Great match up can Brock get him to the mat for g and p win? Cain is smaller than Carwin but a better grappler with a big gas tank. Thoughts?

My thoughts are as follows: After the Carwin fight, I won't bet against Brock until I see someone beat him.

Cain's striking is far superior to that of Lesnar's and I believe he'll also be able to stuff Lesnar's shot. I like Cain by TKO.

Cain's only chance is to drag it out for 5 rounds and win by decision, otherwise the size advantage will be to much......Lesner by TKO

I wouldn't be surprised to see Cain hang around with Brock and sink in a choke in the 3rd or 4th round, similar to Brock vs. Carwin.

Cain is only 6'1" - 240 Lbs. Brock will probably outweigh him by 35 pounds when the bell rings. This will really nuetralize Cain's cardio advantage because he will sapp much more quickly trying to fend off Brocks huge frame. When Cain gets worn a bit, he will no longer be able to stop Brock's Double leg. Once on top, Brock has proven to be vicious and continues to improve. I would give Cain a punchers chance early on and I believe that he truly is a very tough opponent for Brock. However, Brock IMO will once again display his heart and come out with a W.

I don't think Cain presents enough trouble for Brock. I think he's less of a threat than Carwin, and we saw that go down.

Honestly, Carwin could only defend Brock's wrestling for 1 round. The top contender could only do it for 1 round. Its not like he can only wrestle either. The guy has a semi-like frame and pythons for arms. He has the KO power needed to be lethal on the feet. He posseses the cardio and composure needed to keep him going strong for a war. Hell, he subbed Carwin haha the guy has the Jits skillz he needs to complete his Ground and Pound style. Brock is just plain leaps and bounds above the competition.

And if being monster-talented and athletically-unstoppable doesn't do it, the guy obviously has the work ethic and heart to pull out any W he truly wants.

Brock via RnP finish.

Really? Was it Cole's freshman season?

Cain has a huge tank but gives up too much size in this one. Won't be easy but if Brock really wants it he wins.

bob, I don't mean to discredit Cain's wrestling. Carwin was a D2 champ... and not one to scoff at, by any means.

Isn't Konrad fighting now or helping Brock train?

The point is, sir, is that I don't see Cain taking Lesnar past 2 rounds.

When did Cain beat Cole? Not saying he didn't sometime...but I remember Cole beating him at home his senior year and in the NCAA semi's. Was it early in his career?

2 time D1 AA beats a D2 champ imo. All im doin is pointing out the facts, the fact that he is so much smaller could mean much more tho. And as much as I wan't brock to dominate im just being realistic, Cain is a better package than Carwin, just doesn't have the size and knockout power.

And I think Cains wins were in freestyle, everyone on the MMA forums has been talking about thats where I got it.

Looks like the fight is scheduled for (Br)oc(k)tober 23rd at UFC 121. I had to change my pants after reading about this card:

Heavyweight Championship: Brock Lesnar vs. Cain Velasquez
Light Heavyweight Bout: Tito Ortiz vs. Matt Hammill
Welterweight Bout: Jake Shields vs. Martin Kampmann
Welterweight Bout: Diego Sanchez vs. Paulo Thiago.
Heavyweight Bout: Brendan Schaub vs. Gabriel Gonzaga
Middleweight Bout: Court McGee vs. Ryan Jensen
Heavyweight Bout: Todd Duffee vs. Jon Madsen
Middleweight Bout: Patrick Cote vs. Tom Lawlor
Lightweight Bout: Sam Stout vs. Paul Taylor

Obviously, injuries happen, but this looks like the best card of 2010.

Brock via RnP finish.
The RNP is a finish used largely in San Francisco, from what I can gather... :X ^o)
