Main Card: Lightweight Championship Bout: Frankie Edgar vs. BJ Penn. Heavyweight Bout: Randy Couture vs. James Toney. Lightweight Bout: Kenny Florian vs. Gray Maynard. Welterweight Bout: Nate Diaz vs. Marcus Davis Middleweight Bout: Demian Maia vs. Mario Miranda* Spike TV Prelims: Lightweight Bout: Joe Lauzon vs. Gabe Ruediger. Lightweight Bout: Andre Winner vs. Nik Lentz. Preliminary Card: Welterweight Bout: Nick Osipczak vs. Greg Soto Welterweight Bout: Mike Pierce vs. Almicar Alves Middleweight Bout: Gerald Harris vs. Joe Vedepo* Middlweight Bout: Dan Miller vs. John Salter* *Implies that the fight hasn't been finalized. This card has had it's fair share of injuries. Jorge Rivera was supposed to fight Alessio Sakara. Rivera broke his arm while training and was replaced by Gerald Harris, and Sakara pulled out of the fight soon after and was replaced by Vedepo. Lauzon was supposed to fight Terry Etim, but Terry suffered an injury during training and pulled out of the fight, and Salter was set to fight Phil Baroni before Baroni got hurt. Finally, the main card fight between Rousimar Palhares and Nate Marquardt was move to the UFN 22 main event after Alan Belcher injured his eye and pulled out of his fight with Demian Maia. Maia is now fighting Mario Miranda on the main card at UFC 118. Injuries aside, I'm pretty pumped for this card. Joe Lauzon is my favorite figher, so it's nice to see him in a very winnable fight. I'll bother you guys with my picks later. |

I'll dig in. :P Penn-Edgar... yeah, I like the sound of that. good stylistic matchup. KenFlo vs Maynard will be sick! GOOOO MAYNARDDDDD Diaz-Davis creates a tough choice, and a great fight. Davis throws bombs, and so does Diaz, but i might say Diaz has the edge on the ground. Demian Maia is my boy. J-Lau is a thug. Is this the Gabe Rudiger that couldn't freaking make weight on the TUF season awhile back? War Gerald Harris, if he fights. |

Is thug a good thing? I feel like with you, it might be, but I can't be sure :P And yeah, he's fighting the tool who didn't make weight on TUF. |

Thug is a particular status in which you have, or are currently, gaining street cred with the popular crowd (in this case... me. Ya boi, CropDuster). well, maybe not in the direct sense... but I mean, thats kinda my interpretation. other examples of thug-ery include the likes of Eazy E, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, and most importantly, Suge Knight. Also, watching Joe KTFO of fat-cakes will make my evening. |

Main Card: Lightweight Championship Bout: BJ Penn vs. Frank Edgar. Edgar by decision, similar to the last fight. At the same time, part of me wants to think BJ will pull a Shogun and end the fight early. Heavyweight Bout: Randy Couture vs. James Toney. I acknowledge that Toney could put Couture's lights out (pun absolutely intended), but I think Randy will tap in to his wider skill set and win by submission or ground-and-pound TKO. Lightweight Bout: Kenny Florian vs. Gray Maynard. Florian by submission, probably an RNC. I wouldn't be surprised to see him try to take it to the ground to get the finish. Don't be surprised to see the razor-sharp elbows come out. Welterweight Bout: Nate Diaz vs. Marcus Davis Tough one to call. Diaz has the superior ground game and Davis has the better stand up, but Diaz also has the reach advantage. I give Diaz the decision win. Middleweight Bout: Demian Maia vs. Mario Miranda Maia has arguably the best BJJ at 185, but Miranda is extremely well rounded. He's not Anderson Silva though. Maia by submission. Spike TV Prelims: Lightweight Bout: Joe Lauzon vs. Gabe Ruediger. Lauzon by whatever he wants. Lightweight Bout: Andre Winner vs. Nik Lentz. Lentz by decision. Don't know a whole lot about either of these two. Preliminary Card: Welterweight Bout: Nick Osipczak vs. Greg Soto Osipczak looks to be the much more well rounded fighter here, so I'm going to go with him by a (T)KO. Welterweight Bout: Mike Pierce vs. Almicar Alves Alves is a UFC newcomer and Pierce was the last guy to actually look decent against Jon Fitch. Pierce by decision or (T)KO. Middleweight Bout: Gerald Harris vs. Joe Vedepo Harris by Hurricane TKO. Middlweight Bout: Dan Miller vs. John Salter Miller by choke. It's nice to see him get a winnable fight after facing Sonnen, Maia, and Bisping in succession. Salter celebrated like a world-class d-bag after his last win, which was the result of Jason McDonald injuring his ankle, so hopefully Miller will give him a rude awakening. Hopefully I'll get my Youtube video predictions up some time soon (my Youtube SN is smilininthe3rd if you want to check out my previous work :P ) |

Couture vs James Toney? I'm assuming this is the boxer James Toney? Why are they doing this? Couture just needs to go start a senior MMA circuit, there is no reason there should ever be two fighters with a combined age of almost 90. He can take Mark Coleman, Ken Shamrock, Chuck Liddell, Hendo, Kevin Randlemen and all the other 40+ year olds with him. Id rather see that for free on Spike or something than have pointless fight like this one on PPV |

I distinctly remember Dana saying (or at least implying) that he would never fight in the UFC after him not making weight. |

Is that a reference to this being the first I've heard about the James Toney fight, or are they making a MMA senior league? :P |

CT, Is the Ground Round gonna show this or was 117 a one time thing? P.S.-Don't rip on Captain America! This is gonna be fun watching a wrestler drag a boxer down to the mat, pummel him a bit and then choke his lights out, just like the really early UFC's. |

Undercard predictions can now be found here. Same warnings as last time. I know I could have posted these together, or linked them in with my predictions, but that's no way to jack my post count. Edited by aguywithaname, Aug 13 2010, 01:12 AM.

Yes, I have noticed that as well. What do we need to do to get this party started? Perhaps if we can lobby to have Crop Duster (Kimbo) reinstated for TUF season 16...or is it 17? |

I saw a report on Kimbo where he was talking about working on his wrestling and throws. I realized then that CD was not Kimbo, the Duster has awesome throws. I think it's really Kimbo that wants to be like CD. I am geussing the reason we have not been blessed wtih the Dusters brilliant insight is because he is spending his summer teching Kimbo the finer details of Greco |

Looks like the Gerald Harris vs. Joe Vedepo fight has been scrapped. Probably for Vedepo's safety. |

Great moment today, boys... Football practice, lame drill where you lay on your back and get up to tackle the olther person... he pressured... and got lateraled for 3 :D Then as i'm driving home south on good ol' Highway 63 south to Rac-city? Just some CropDuster airplanes giving the old fields a spray. but yeah, between helping Kimbo with his tosses and listening to Marshall Mathers, I've got enough on my plate. Why would they scrap a Gerald Harris fight? MOST UNDERRATED in the UFC by far. Always puts a good show on. Dana, Dana, Dana... ^o) Oh and the matchmaker... wtf? |
