Yourroyalfreshness (CD? :P ) brought this up on the UFC 121 thread so I thought I'd give it it's own thread, seeing as it's a pretty important event. A few thoughts I have on it:

-Hopefully with two more belts we'll see more title fight main events and fewer Couture/Coleman or Mir/Cro Cop -type main events.
-The featherweight division will get much more competitive with UFC-caliber guys cutting down from 155. I could see guys like Cole Miller, Jim Miller, Clay Guida, and maybe even Tyson Griffin cutting down.
-Donald Cerrone vs. Nate Diaz. That's all I ask.

The only reason I dont like this is because I will miss all the free WEC cards on versus......basically those cards never failed, they would almost always out perform the UFC PPV cards, and you'd get them for free, but in the long run its much more important that the little guys get their due. So I support the merger.

Love it. I just hope they integrate it well, and there are still plenty of bantamweight and featherweight matchups on the main card. Though I also believed the WEC always delivered, it is very cool coming from a fighter's perspective, when asked about my ambitions to get into the UFC, I don't have to correct someone and say, "they don't have featherweights, unfortunately." Now I can say, "hell yeah!" And I'd love to see TUF featherweight and bantamweight seasons!

Looks like the UFC will now have four cards on Versus every year now though.

I agree wholeheartedly on the TUF bantamweight/featherweight seasons. I'm still trying to get in to fighting, and knowing that I could be in the UFC someday (even if it is just a pipe dream) is just more motivation.
