My thoughts:

-Edgar vs. Maynard- Not the most exciting-looking fight, but I think it's getting way too much flack. I expect a good grappling exhibition if nothing else. I do hope Frankie retains the belt, a fight with Pettis (OMFG DID YOU SEE THAT KICK? :P ) would be pretty exciting.
-I'm not sure why Leben vs. Stann is the co-main event, or why Leben is facing Stann after defeating Simpson and Akiyama within two weeks this summer, but I'll go with it since Leben is exciting and Stann is a stud.
-Diaz vs. Kim should be the best kind of grapplefest. Judo black belt vs. slick BJJ. I'll take it.
-Vera vs. Silva should be a slugfest, but if they respect each other's stand-up too much, it could be a disappointment (see: Alexander, Houston vs. Ferguson, Kevin). Vera might be fighting for his UFC life here.
-Clay Guida vs. Takanori Gomi... enough said. I don't know if it's possible to knock Clay Guida out, but Gomi's gonna try anyways.

My thoughts on the undercard basically consist of "Go Jacob Volkmann", "Baroni is going to lose and get cut", and "Why on earth are there not Spike prelims for Stephens vs. Davis and Brown vs. Nunes?"

Bump for three reasons:
1) The event is tonight.
2) The Tavares-Baroni, Grispi-Poirier, and Stephens-Davis fights are being shown on Ion, of all channels.
3) How else am I supposed to reach 3500 posts this year?

Draws are sad, but I actually had it scored a draw. First round 10-8 to Maynard, third round 10-9 to Maynard, and the other three 10-9 to Edgar. 47-47.

Draw or not, that was a hell of a fight. For all the talk of how this was going to be a five-round borefest, I was certainly beyond satisfied.

Did you honestly think it was gonna be a 5 round snoozefest? Because you seem like you know these 2 better than that.

I had that fifth round to Maynard.....he was the aggressor, controlled the center and basically emptied the tank in an effort to get a last takedown and seal the fight.....where as edgar just stuck and moved or hoped in and out like he does.....also when you look back at the fight, It just feels like maynard should have won because he was never once in any real danger (that standing guillotine was never locked in)......Imagine if the 1st and 5th rounds were switched, everyone would have called the fight for gray because it would have been fresh in their mind....

With that said, Edgar looked much smaller and showed a lot of grit as well as phenomenal conditiong so he won me over a bit as a fighter.... I know aldo is down there but it just seems to me like 145 might be a better option for him going forward......

I suppose I wouldn't have been surprised either way, seeing as Maynard's last two fights weren't exactly barnburners.

It was great to see Volkmann get his 3rd victory in a row! He hasn't lost at 155.

I think Maynards chances of winning would have been better if he hadn't tried so hard to get a take down. By trying over and over, it made it seem like HE thought he needed one to win. He was also out boxing him in the round, and gave up his momentum every time he "shot" in.

It was a great fight either way.

Thinking back, it's rather ironic that a card entitled "Resolution" ended with the main event being a draw.

I'm assuming that was intentional, sort of as a play on words.
