Another pay-per-view come and gone. A few highlights included Anderson Silva's knockout of Vitor Belfort, the announcement of Jon Jones receiving a title shot against Shogun in a month and a half, and of course, Gabe Ruediger getting knocked silly by Paul Taylor. A couple personal lowlights included Anderson Silva's knockout of Vitor Belfort, and the ridiculously terrible picture on my friend's TV courtesy of MidContinent. My thoughts: -I really wish Anderson Silva would stop putting on Fight of the Night and Knockout of the Night performances, because it's making it really hard for me to strongly dislike him. -Within three fights, Jones will have fought both Vladimir Matyushenko on a free card, and Shogun for the light heavyweight title. The level of ridiculousness of this situation is only surpassed by the fact that Frankie Edgar's last fight before his two wins over BJ was against Matt 'I'm not even in the UFC anymore' Veach. -The UFC seems to be continuing its game of "Up yours, Yushin Okami", because Dana announced that if GSP beats Shields in April, GSP-Silva is probably the next fight for both of them. A few fights to make after this card: -Franklin vs. Bader (or Marquardt at 195) -Forrest vs. Hammil-Davis winner -Donald Cerrone vs. Cole Miller -Paul Kelly vs. Joe Lauzon -Sam Stout vs.Tyson Griffin (neither of them fought, but that fight just needs to be made) Edited by aguywithaname, Feb 6 2011, 01:52 PM.

I was really surpised at how dominant Bones Jones was over Bader. He is just so long, quick and strong. I am very interested to see what kind of gameplan Shogun comes up with. No matter what he does, I see Jones winning. I could see Jones cleaning out the division and making an easy transition to the hwt division. I think guys like Brock or Carwin would be a little much for him right now because of his size but I think he could beat most of that division right now |
