LAS VEGAS - LAS VEGAS -- In a transaction that will forever change the mixed martial arts world, Zuffa, the parent company of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, has purchased its top competitor, Strikeforce.

UFC president Dana White spoke to MMA Fighting exclusively about why the historic purchase happened, the terms of the deal, what this means for the Strikeforce brand and fighters and much more.

I was skeptical at first, but it's hard to discredit an Ariel Helwani interview with Dana. If this is legit, man, the UFC is basically becoming MMA.

Wow, kinda lame that even though this happens we won't be seeing Strikeforce vs UFC fighters. Not much is gonna change for the fans I guess.

I give Strikeforce one year, or whenever the contract ends with Showtime, before the UFC folds them up and takes the fighters they want. Just like they did to Pride & WEC.

So if in fact Strikeforce does just fold in to the UFC like the WEC and Pride did, how does Dana approach the Paul Daley situation?

The UFC (or Zuffa) will probably just release Daley from the contract he currently has. It's probably a harder situation with a guy like Dan Henderson who actually has a good fan base, I just hope we get some good fights out of the deal.

It sounds like some of the Strikeforce fighters are already calling out the big dogs in the UFC. This is what Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva had to say about our own Brock Lesnar: "I'd love to fight Brock Lesnar and send him back to pro wrestling because I don't accept the fact that [he's] ranked No. 2. It's not personal; I don't know Brock. It's just professional."

Oh.. I think there will be plenty of cross over between strikeforce fighters and UFC fighters. I think the merger will be great for us fans.

I'm more interested to what happens with the girls divisions because somebody on here said "As long as Dana is alive girls won't fight in the UFC
