Check this site, are these legal for HighSchool to have CUSTOM PAINTED HEADGEAR??? NO MERCY CUSTOM Paint Schemes Here is why I ask?? Join Date: 04-03-07 Posts: 23 Don't waste your money! Doesn't matter what anyone thinks of your designs....it's illegal to have that on your headgear in a high school match. I guess they can look cool in practice though. 1.12.6 Legal Apparel and Equipment. Uniforms and all other items of apparel and equipment (e.g., warm-ups, socks, T-shirts, headgear, and towels) may bear only the manufacturer’s normal label or trademark as it is used on all such items for sale to the general public. This label or trademark must be contained within a four-sided geometrical figure (i.e., rectangle, square, parallelogram) that does not exceed 2¼-square inches in area. This restriction is applicable to all apparel worn by student-athletes during the conduct of the institution’s competition, which includes any pregame or postgame activities. Noncompliance can affect a student-athlete’s eligibility. See NCAA Bylaw 12.5.4 for more information. #5 07-19-10, 11:17 AM Suplexer130 All American Join Date: 06-05-03 Posts: 2,114 That to me seems to discourage selling add space on your uniform. Painting your own schools logo or a sticker on your headgear doesn't seem to be effected by this rule. I think there may be another rule but it's not this one. #6 07-19-10, 11:17 AM tough_nuts All District Join Date: 02-11-10 Posts: 178 Quote: Originally Posted by bringingthetruth Doesn't matter what anyone thinks of your designs....it's illegal to have that on your headgear in a high school match. Also, your quote is a NCAA Bylaw, not NFHA. Not sure if that makes a difference. So, IS it ok to do this in HighSChool or Not??? |

According to bob colgate from nfhs it is legal as long as not offensive. Reason is stickers are allowed so painting is allowed. And for you that say it is not how the manufacturer intended..... I agree but this came straight from nfhs |
