Wrestler A is certified at 120, but is out of shape and wrestles some varsity matches in December and January at 138. The team that he is on has six weigh-in dates after Jan. 15th. The first two weigh-ins, wrestler A weighs in at and wrestles at 138. The 3rd and 4th weigh-ins....he doesn't wrestle or weigh-in. The 5th and 6th weigh-ins, he makes weight at 120 and wrestles at that weight. It is my understanding that wrestler A has made half of his weigh-ins at 120 and can wrestle at 120 in the section tournaments. But, my question is.....during the time that he didn't weigh-in and after the 5th weigh-in, he made weight at 126 for the 9th grade regional and state tournament. Does the 9th grade state weigh-ins count for wrestler A's weigh-in total? |

Someone asked the question here earlier and the answer was that the 9th grade matches count in match count, but not as official weigh-ins. That's just a message board answer, I don't think it's official. |

You are correct. 9th grade weighins do not count. When your Coach enters the weighins on hs league website he should not enter 9th grade weighins. So in your example he qualifys for 120 Edited by WrestlingOfficial, Feb 10 2012, 02:22 PM.

Ok....thank you. But it doesn't make sense that the High School League recoginizes that matches toward the match count limit....but the weigh-ins don't count. It would make sense to me that if the matches count...so should the weigh-ins. |

It's because 9th grade league doesnt follow normal weigh in procedure. Most 9 th grade Duals count kids weigh ins from a previous weighin. For example some of the Monday 9th grade Duals used the previous saturday weigh ins. |
