Is this a folkstyle team? I think we need to put Mark Hall on the list

I think 'Storm' would be Greco and Freestyle.

At 112 you could add Brad Osatiuk, and at 125 you could add Carson Brolsma!

Great list, but I would add Russel Caldwell (105) that kid can wrestle some Greco and Freestyle. Just noticed but do the new weight classes not apply to Greco & Freestyle?

Do the duals conflict with northern plains again, and is there only going to be one team again?

Do you have to win any special tournament to be on the team or do you just go to the augsburg camp in July and wrestle off for a spot?

I think this topic may be about the Cadet National Duals in FL in the middle of June. July would be the Cadet & Junior Nat. Championships in Fargo.

they changed the weights this year....unfortunately for the small guys....!!!!

Cadets went up from 84 to 88 and 91 to 94 and 98 to 100....after that they follow the new HS weights....
Jrs follow the New HS weights with one addtl weight 98 being raised to 100

Also some of the kids you have listed on the cadet roster are no way gonna make those weights particularily Caldwell, who was in mid 130's last weekend. BEASTLY at FS/GR at ANY weight. Dulaney is around 170 to 80ish...88 Alex Davis....

At least all the great cadets and SBs usually participate!...tougher to get the #1 juniors out for the team due to college commitments....etc....if we could land the #1 jrs we would take the tourney!...considering it is the same group of kids who swept the SB duals and Cadet duals when this age group alligned. 94 and 95 DOB specifically....jrs is trickier since everyone 9th thru 12th can possibly make the team....so wider age range makes it deeper nationwide and thus tougher to win without the very best kids at each weight.

"storm kids"...any MN kid is "a Storm kid" when they're competing in USAW regional and national competition. So you've never technically beat a storm kid at an open tournament.

Wrestle the state tournaments...you want to get invited to duals and things like that, the state tournament is going to have the biggest impact on making a team.

And for all the Cadets who are Freshman in HS (or older) I'd strongly suggest you compete at JR State on April 14/15. Somebody I suggested that to recently said "yeah but those kids are older"...you competed against the same kids all year in HS!

It is also important to know that there is a seeding system based on wrestlers performances at national and regional tournaments. The sum of your individuals success determines team seeding. So a kid you beat may get the spot due to his contribution to the team seeding. It's not all about who you beat from MN.

That can definitely play into it.

there are quite a few kids that could be used as backups. like gunvalson i know can beat kass in greco so he would help. what about grant bolduan could be added because hes beaten quite a few people in greco and he almost beat rowh in freestyle he could be a back up to voss at 135 even though he hasnt done much until this year.

On the first list I would move Tyler Berdahl to 170 or 160. He finished 2nd last month at Folkstyle Nationals and should make the team somewhere.

It probably is based more on how he does at State in a couple weeks as opposed to how he did a month ago. Congrats to Tyler at Nationals, that is a heck of an accomplishment. Obviously if he places 1st or 2nd at State he should be selected as starter or back up, but what if he places 4th- 6th or has a bad draw, and doesn't place at all? It would be hard to justify placing him on a team where others placed ahead of him.

I disagree- I doubt the coaches are going to pick their duals team based solely on how people finish at State FS/GR...State tournament or not- I would hope that the coaching staff looks at many otherthings like: amount of weekend tournaments attended- how the wrestler placed- who the opponents were- did they go to Junior State (if a cadet) did they go to Northern Plains- who did they defeat at NP- all those things should be considered, NOT just how they finish at Freestyle/Greco state- JMO

I think tyler will be the stud hope we can hang our head wiith him ! I look forward to the match ! CR IS COOL!
170 should be some really exciting matches. It's like back in the good old youth days when all these kids used to wrestle each other. Should be fun.
