The Mat Rats of Cannon Falls will be hosting our 3rd Annual FS/GR Combo Tournament on April 21st. If you have not wrestled Greco this is a great format to give it a try. Large facilty and plenty of mats. Click below for the details.

One change that will be made to this year's schedule is as soon as the Peewee/Bantam groups complete Greco they will begin their Freestyle portion.

It has become a tradition that the Mat Rats Wrestling club provide an opportunity for the wrestlers to donate their Medals to help others in need. Over the past two years the kids generosity has raised over $2000. For every medal donated back, $2.50 will be donated on the wrestlers behalf to a wrestling organization or family in need. The money raised will be matched by the Mat Rats Wrestling Club. This year's receipent will be announced at the tournament on Saturday.

Hope to see everyone in Cannon Falls on the 21st.

We attended this tournament two years ago and it was great. The format is great. The facilities are great.

Last year baseball got in the way and we're hoping rescheduling doesn't intervene this year. We're planning to venture the highway to Cannon Falls this weekend. Hopefully filling a couple of vehicles from Adrian.

Looking forward to it.

There is wireless internet at the school. My experience has found the fieldhouse has some better spots then others for reception .. however you should be able to get connection.

Looking to be a good tournament ... received confirmation that kids will be coming from Wisconsin, North Dakota, and South Dakota for an opportunity to wrestle some Greco and Freestyle.

I'm starting to see that this is the preferred format. If you're going to drive 3 hours or more for a wrestling opportunity, its great if you can get it all in (Greco and Freestyle) and not have to add the expense of a hotel. I like the early wake-ups and making a great day of it. Cannon Falls is a beautiful little City too.

I like the representation from multiple states too. I know there will be 3-130ish lb cadets in my car. If there's 8-10 kids around that weight, then maybe there's a chance of getting at least two of them seperated. If not, it's still a fun day too.

On behalf of the Mat Rats wrestling club I would like to thank everyone who attended. We had wrestlers from ND, SD, IA, and WI. The longest drive was 6 hours. There were 268 wrestlers and the last match was wrestled at 4:30.

A special thanks to the MNUSA pairing officials and officials who assisted to make the day a success. It was also nice to see our young men stepping up to volunteer as officials. We had 5 Cadets that were wrestling in the tournament and also officiated. There were also several Juniors that were officiating as well. In my opinion these young men did a wonderful job and should consider doing more officiating in the future.

The "Turn in Your Medals" program was again a huge success. The kids raised $1013 which will be donated to Bucky Lindahl family of Cannon Falls. Bucky has been a teacher, coach and mentor at the Cannon Falls School for many years. His family lost their home to a fire in January. It was touching to receive donations and hear stories from several past students of Bucky that were in attendance. Recieved the following email from a parent that I believe sums up feelings of most that donate their medals.

Thank you for hosting the tournament. My sons had a great time. I just wanted to mention that we loved your medal donation program. My sons were just as proud to donate those medals as they were to earn them. See you next year!

Hope to see everyone back next year.

Great tournament with great kids. We had to run back to Adrian before I found out how we placed. It was great though.

We got four matches in (2 Free/2 Greco). It was another great learning experience. Thanks to all at Cannon Falls.
