Pre-registration ends Tuesday, June 12th. If you are looking at the numbers on trackwrestling do not let that discourage you from attending. Some states kids must sign up through their state organization. Those numbers will not show up on trackwrestling. Total entries will be much larger than shown. Hope to see you in Nebraska. The facilities are first class, you will be impressed. Thanks, Alan Pokorny State Chairman Nebraska USA Wrestling |

Thinking the cadet duals, and the economy have really hit Northern Plains this year. Less than 50 kids registered in Cadet for Greco. Ouch! |

They had the Northern Plains the same weekend as the Cadet Duals last year, too. The only saving factor was that it was held at Wisconsin Dells and Families could work in a mini-vacation, but there were less kids than the year before when we held the Northern Plains in Rochester. We had the common sense to hold it the week before the duals, and the Northern Plains was packed. It really makes no sense to have two major events on the same weekend. A couple of the weights have nobody registered; someweights only have one. I realize that Illinois is required to register through their state, but how many kids could one state possibly add? It just doesnt make sense to drive 9+ hours, weigh in, get a hotel, and buy meals for 1-2 matches. |

I am NOT saying that this is a factor but it may possibly be. My son missed the state FS/GR tourney due to a death in the family and I was unable to get him to the tournament. Missing state has now caused my son to not be able to attend Northern Plains and Nationals (domino affect). I do understand the importance of attending the state tourney, I also support most of the rules. I am ok with my son not being able to wrestle at and support Northern Plains because he missed state. I would think changes could be made in the future though so that a kid doesn't get told that he cant wrestle because his dad had to bury his sister...just plain wrong IMO. Again, we must follow the rules and I can't change what happened this time to my son, I hope to change it so another kid doesn't get short changed though. This is for Schoolboys and doesn't affect Cadets because they dont have to go to the state tourney to wrestle Northern Plains. I guess I dont quite understand that either. Sorry for highjacking the thread. |

That should just about put a end to having it in Grand Island, NE. Way to far for people to travel. Just don't think people are willing to travel 8,10 to 12 hours. Would be nice to see it in the Dells or Rochester every year. Little more centrally located. |
