Betts competes on August 6th and Bernard competes on August 9th.

Not sure about exact times but these pages might help.

Wrestling starts Auguust 5th. A lot of the wrestling is on MSNBC. The rest is either on the main NBC network or something called NBCSN or NBC Sports Network. I imagine my cable provider will charge me $5000 for that channel. ^o)

Four years ago the NBC coverage was pretty good.

Four years ago the best part of the coverage was the free online broadcast. Once I got Microsoft Silverlight working on my computer, I could get all three mats streamed live every day. I would imagine they are doing the same thing this time around.

Thanks for the information fellas. Drums up old memories.
I wish nothing but the best for our stars at the games. As every one else I'm very proud of them and very proud of MN wrestling.

I found out that if your TV package includes MSNBC and CNBC you can sign up for free live-streaming on your computer at nbcolympic.com

I just signed up. They will cover all three mats of wrestling on three different feeds everyday.

Should be awesome.

NBCSN used to be called Versus, so you might have it already.

I just realized I had it (never watched it before).

If you have some extra time I would recommend watching the freestlye press conference. Jake Herbert is a funny character.

They have a "normal" championship bracket like at NCAAs or state high school. For wrestlebacks, only wrestlers that lose to a finalist qualify. Everyone who loses to one finalist wrestles for one bronze and everyone who loses to the other finalist wrestles for another bronze.

Does that make sense? Questions?

I'll add a few other things if people are interested. They do an entire weight class in one day. In the morning session they wrestle until there are two finalists. Then in the second session of the day they do wrestlebacks and the finals. There are two weight classes a day. Wrestling is normally continuous on three mats. They just keep going round after round. There is some sort of minimum rest time between a wrestlers matches. It's not very long, however. Weigh-ins and the draw are the afternoon before.

One thing I find interesting is that the first round byes aren't spread out in the bracket. All the "pigtails" are grouped together. For example, if there are 20 wrestlers in a weight, the four extra wrestlers are all grouped at the bottom and the two first round winners wrestle each other in the second round.

I sure can't figure out how to watch the olympic wrestling.
I must have 400 channels on the Dish, but none include wrestling.
Oh well, back to more swimming and diving. I hope gymnastics are done.

Unit;
our guys are faced with a dilemma when it comes to competing overseas- this is the way ALL european
tournaments are bracketed- so you could spend 1500.00 or more, flying to say, Finland, or sweden, or
maybe Bulgaria for a tournament- if you lose that first match, and the guy who beat you doesn't make
the final, you've spent all that money for one match- BUT- if you DON'T GO ? you will never keep up,
the only way to be competitive on a world level is to travel and compete internationally- even though
here in the US we have the Schultz, the NYAC, and the Sunkist tournaments, the foreign competitors
don't always fill up those brackets-even when there is a fair amount of european guys here for those events. our guys often end up wrestling their USA counterparts anyway- so it's not like that's a solution-

the BEST scenario is when there is a training opportunity prior to whatever tournament is to be held-
most of our US guys and US coaches know this; so they only spend their money on trips that take them over
there with the set-up of working out and training as many days as possible prior to the tournament-
at least then it's money well spent-

You have to watch it online. Every event in the Olympics is streamed online. There's an NBC app for iPads or it's at NBC's Olympics website.

The main NBC network on TV showed Jordan's first round match about a half hour ago and Al Michaels said they'd be following him "throughout the day". To me, that means they will either be showing the finals live on NBC or on tape delay tonight in primetime.

They showed all the other semi matches on nbcs so figured they were holding off his matches for the main network. So only 10 hrs it may be on.
