Dammit, why do you have to put the results in the thread title?

In 4 years how about you make the thread title "Varner Results".

Sounds like Varner's semifinals and finals matches will be on NBC at 2pm.

No, boneheads feel the need to be the first to post the results....even though his SEMI FINAL match is on NBC currently...thanks

Let usatoday or cnn post results early, thought this site was more intelligent.

Except they don't show the damn matches. Instead we get France v. Seribia in Handball, the Netherlands v. Sweden in Field Hockey, Rythmic Gymnastics and countless other sports where no american is competing, instead of Americans wrestling live. What a fricken joke.

I suggest you take it out on NBC and not the posters. There was no guarantee that the match would be shown anyway.

Sorry, just venting but this is what seems important to NBC, the Circus acts (rythmic gymnastics), the barbeque sports (badmindton and ping pong), field hockey and handball. Way more important than watching americans wrestling. Thumbs down!!!

I'm wondering when Boche ball, Sand bag toss and danceline high kick gets introduced to our viewing pleasure?

More importantly, all 3 medalists on the FS team wrestled folkstyle their entire collegiate career... So can we, as Americans, still pi$$ and moan about folkstyle ruining our Olympic efforts? Just food for thought...

I honestly thought the coverage from NBC was wonderful. We watched all of the matches live on the internet site and pretty much anyone that had any success was on TV a little bit later tape delayed. I think a lot of the TV coverage from many of the sports was tape delayed because of the 6 hour time difference. Sometimes we as wrestling fans need to remember how many other sports there are in the Olympics. We may not like them, but many others do. My wife really liked the rythmic gymnastics for example.

I have no problem with watching those sports if an american is involved. This is an american broadcast company and I have a big problem with watching those sports over any sport that has an american involved. How about tape delaying the rythmic gymnastics while an american is doing another sport? Or tape delaying the handball or field hockey events? No one is suggesting that they not be shown, but you're fooling yourself by justifying wrestling being on the shown on the internet is anyway the same as showing it on TV. And.......the only matches they showed were some of the gold medal matches. Did they show Scotts matches? Don't think so.

And booster again, is it too much to ask for an american broadcast company to show american athletes over other nations athletes? I don't think people would be upset over that and I certainly don't think it needs to be an either/or situation.

totally agree- I wanted to watch AMERICAN wrestlers competing at the Olympics, whether they lost or not- I appreciated the gold medal matches being shown, but we all know that had they not been gold medal matches, nbc would not have found the time to squeeze them in- I don't like the fact the nbc only was interested in showing "winners" - those of us who really follow certain people's athletic careers are very invested in watching their sports, win or lose- very disappointing - but not totally unexpected-

So, what is Varner going to do now? Is he going to stick around for the next Olympic cycle or is he going to start coaching full time or speaking or something?

Kevin Jackson (ISU Coach) says that he thinks he'll be back to wrestle in Rio in 2016

Betts had both his matches shown. Coleman had his match shown. These I know for sure were on tv and they didn't medal so they didn't just show the winners.

That's great to hear. With Boroughs and Varner back and still competing and with guys like Dake, Howe, Metcalf, and Tayler coming up through the ranks, the U.S. should be poised to do pretty well in the next four years.
