I can understand not being able to tape headgear because tape is abrasive. Another thing wrestlers do is cross their top straps to keep their head gear from getting pulled down over their eyes. Now that is illegal. What is the logic to this? |

To be honest I don't understand the logic either but the ruling from the NFHS is you must wear the headgear the way the manufacturer intended. Do us alla favor and get the manufacturer to indicate that was the way it was intended :) It is definitely frustrating to delay a match for a headgear that doesn't fit |

Just wanted to let you know if you don't already... Cliff Keen does sell a piece that will hold the straps together. It is oked by the NFHS. I just found that out! Edited by WRESTLEDAD, Dec 3 2012, 08:57 AM.

Yep we knew that. And tell coaches all the time that it is legal, not all coaches are getting the word apparently. |

Of course they do... which is why CK will probably never give the ok to cross the straps. |

Nitpicky item here, but for the sake of how far-spreading all of the tape on headgear questions have gone, I thought I'd ask...for kids who have hair that require them to cover with skullcaps or other like covers, can they do a wrap of athletes tape around the head to keep the cap on? I know much of the concern with the tape on the headgear would be that it would carry infection, and since the skullcap tape is obviously replaced after each event that should not be an issue. And I doubt if the manufacturer of the skullcap has an intent with how it should be worn...so my thought is it is a non-issue? I just thought it was worth throwing out before the end of the season. Thoughts Rod? |

I would question why it is needed on a cap. Those caps fit tight so there shouldn't be a need |
