I thought I understood the rules regarding injury time-outs, but I was just reading a thread on the Illinois wrestling message board and I'm now more confused than ever.

My understanding is that a wrestler may call up to two injury timeouts during a match but on the second one, the opponent get's his/her choice of position. Is that correct?

Are there any special rules governing the overtime periods? Are there any special situations for inhalers or things like shoulder or knee braces that slip or become unhooked?

What happens if a wrestler calls for a time-out after they have used up their time-outs? What happens if they have an injury after they have used up the 90 seconds?

Actually, just explain it all if you would please...

You are correct. Only 2 injury timeouts and on 2nd injury timeout wrestler will get choice on restart. There are lots of weird scenarios if it happens at the end of period but won't go into those details. Maximum time is 1.5 min. On third injury time or after 1.5 wrestler is finished and match will stop as an injury default. Things that count towards injury timeout. Looking for a contact for an extended period of time (ref discretion). Showing up not ready to wrestle (I.e. shoe laces) inhalers. Equipment issues like headgear shoulder strap are not.

I know that not having your laces secured when you report to the mat will be an injury time out, but what if they need to be secured (repeatedly?) during the match?

If wrestler makes them legal or comes out legal (I.e.) taped or under Velcro but then need to be secured no penalty. So if not correct penalty injury and told to secure correctly. So once he secures them correctly no more additional points or injury will happen

No team score only match score. 1 point and injury time until secure
