The Mat Rats of Cannon Falls will be hosting our 4th Annual FS/GR Combo Tournament on April 20th. If you have not wrestled Greco this is a great format to give it a try. Large facilty and plenty of mats. Click below for the details.

Just as last year as soon as the Peewee/Bantam groups complete Greco they will begin their Freestyle portion.

It has become a tradition that the Mat Rats Wrestling club provide an opportunity for the wrestlers to donate their Medals to help others in need. Over the past three years the kids generosity has raised over $3200. For every medal donated back, $2.50 will be donated on the wrestlers behalf to a wrestling organization or family in need. The money raised will be matched by the Mat Rats Wrestling Club. This year's receipent will be the Steve McKee as he takes on the battle with cancer. To learn more about Steve's story click on the following link.

Hope to see everyone in Cannon Falls on the 20th.

Just a bump. Looks to be a great wrestling weekend in Cannon Falls. I've received calls from Wisconsin, South Dakota and Iowa grapplers informing me they are coming for a chance to do battle with the Minnesota clan. We will have plenty of mat surfaces to make the tournament run at a good pace.

Hope to see everyone in Cannon Falls this weekend.

I'm pretty sure this is Ty Johnson. I wasn't there and this isn't my picture, I stole it from Twitter.

Yes that is Ty Johnson against a kid that had never wrestled freestyle or Greco before, pretty impressive isn't it.

Ty hits more 5's than any kid I know. Another thing I know about Ty is he has great sportsmanship. Don't disrespect the kid for doing what he was supposed to do. Ty earned the position, and regardless of style you don't give up your back.

it was a long day of wrestling but tons of great competition 450 kids showed up which is a ton for a combo event. my son got his first 5's yesterday (2 of them) and can't stop talking about it :) that is what keeps him coming back for more. thanks to Cannon Falls for doing a great job dealing with this size of this event. also thanks to the tons of people who volunteered all day to pull it off. I worked a table most of the day and saw a ton of great wrestling ... best seat in the house :)

On behalf of the Mat Rats Wresting Club I would like to thank everyone who came and particpated in the tournament yesterday. Also a large thank you to all that stepped up to help officiate and work tables. Additionally thanks to all the MNUSAwrestling pairing staff and officials. It was a long day and you kept the mats full through out.

There were approximately 450 particpants and the last match ended at 7:20pm. There were many great matches. It was an endurance test for the athelets and volunteers. Pee Wee, Bantam and Intermediate age groups concluded around 4:30pm.

Special thank you to all the kids who turned in their medals for charity. 357 medals were turned in raising $1785 which will be donated to the Steve McKee family in an effort to help with expenses while he is battling cancer. It's great to be part of a wrestling family that is so genereous.

Thanks again for supporting the Mat Rats Tournament !!

The MNUSA Pairing Officials have all the results as they need to track points to determine state qualifiers. I'm not aware that they will be posting any results.
