The situation...

A kid wrestles and wins he first two matches in an IBT. This puts him in the finals of the tournament. After the semi finals, the tournament director realizes that this kid missed weight. Neither the referees nor the coach noticed until this time. What is the proper procedure after this?

The spot is completely vacated and the other finalist wins by forfeit? His quarterfinal and semifinal opponents wrestle against each other in a new "semi" to determine who goes to the final? Something else?

How does this happen? How does the coach of this wrestler not know he missed weight?

He would be DQ and I don't see how u can wrestle the other matches.

I have to agree with Rod - that seems to be an almost impossible occurance unless it was in a JV event that wasn't being watched too closely. Otherwise, the wrestler, the coach, the tournament director, other coaches, and other wrestlers all would have noticed a potential finalist not making weight. Even parents would/should have known.

A couple years ago a local wrestler missed 138 by a pound at a JV event and they bumped him up to 160 (which he wasn't eligible to wrestle). No one noticed the screw-up until the finals and then everyone just decided to let the finals match go on.

If the situation referenced did happen, I would think you'd have a 1st place finisher, no second, and a match for 3rd-4th. To be fair, I guess if the 3rd place guy hasn't wrestled the 1st place guy they could have an extra match for true first.

Young coach thought they got +3 lbs, but it was +2 so he didn't realize they missed weight. Refs and tournament director somehow didn't catch it.
