In a battle of the uncommitted at 145, Brayton Lee over Sammy Sasso 7-2 in the consolation semifinals. Lee vs Alex Lloyd for third.
Surprising that none of those three are in the finals
Interestingly the guy who beat Lee (Gfeller) is an incoming Okie State wrestler who will likely be at the same weight as Lee, who Okie is also recruiting.

How long has Legends of Gold been around, and who is the best wrestler to come out of that program? I don't hear that much about them, and I'm 10 miles from South Dakota.
Just a few years. They've really helped elevate the talent level as a whole in South Dakota. Check out their Facebook/Twitter. It's pretty impressive what they're doing.

Dakota Galt is going to ASU. He's been a part of LOG.
I don't really understand how they've helped elevate the talent level. SD had significantly more talent 8-10 years ago than they do now.

A lot of people "go" to schools, it's probably fair to question whether or not Galt will ever come close to cracking the lineup at ASU.

Some questionable reffing yesterday, these reviews are crazy. I think the reviews/reffing helped and hurt MN kids yesterday. Allar may lost because of it and McKee may have won because of it. Both times there was time to make up difference but still some really strange semis in both cases.

Everyone needs to watch McKee vs Rayvon (the MI kid) & just listen to the conversation going on in the MI corner about the score. I don't think anyone associated with that match has the right score. If the tape was rewatched & rescored a completely different score would come out & maybe even more points would be on the board & I have no idea who would win. But the conversations in the MI corner that you can over hear is great.

Getting world class wrestlers to come do camps, clinics, etc certainly is helping. If you think the overall talent was better 10 years ago I'd be curious to hear your logic.

Not to mention their collaboration with SDSU is an amazing opportunity a lot of kids wouldn't have had prior to LOG coming to town.

Some of the state champs from 10 seasons ago include: Alex Kocer, Logan Storley, Robert Kokesh, Seth Lange, Dustin Walraven, Jarrett Jensen and Devon Clark.

TJ North a d2 national champ was 5th in the b's at 112. Other non state champs from that season include: Ben Gillette, Aero Amo, Jayd Docken, Aaron Pickrel, Josh Keszler and Kris Klapprodt.

The top 2 kids in the state going into that season were Ryan Kocer and Riley Reiff. Kocer lost his leg in an accident and finished 4th at 152. Reiff didn't wrestle because of an injury that could have affected his football opportunity at Iowa.

Jeremiah Peterson, Tom Davies, Zach Blindert, Brock Edgar, Joe Aesoph, Clint Wilson and Carl Serck were also wrestling that season.

No comparison.

Patrick McKee is not anywhere near ready for Big Ten wrestling at 125.

The coaches would be wise to bring in another top recruit to compete at 125.
Fargo Jr Freestyle Champ 2017.

Graduating classes from 2010-2013 included Division 1 wrestlers:
Logan Storley (Minnesota)
Robert Kokesh (Nebraska)
Seth Lange (Minnesota)
Jarrett Jensen (UNI)
Kris Klapprodt (Iowa)
Alex Kocer (SDSU)
Nate Rotert (SDSU)
Brent Havlik (Wyoming)

These guys were all either starters or could have been starters in other D1 programs (i.e. Klapprodt & Lange).

Add to the list the high level D2 talent of:
Aero Amo (Augustana)
T.J. North (Augustana)
Josh Kezsler (UNO)

I'm sure I'm even missing a few. The talent in those 4 classes (especially 2010 & 2011) make it pretty tough for me to believe that Legends of Gold has increased the talent level, seeing as they came into the picture basically right after all of those guys were done and SD doesn't have a ton to show for it.

If someone else is brought in around McKee's weight they are only going to make each other better. McKee isn't going to hand over the spot.

Will be interesting to see how McKee and Teske(hypothetical) grow once they get in a college room. As of now both are 125's IMO.

It is possible he still loves the Gophers, just now also loves the Jacks.

Wouldn't be upset if either him or Lloyd stayed home though.

Could you imagine if they both stayed home and we got Lee!!

149 Lloyd
157 Lee
165 Robb
174 Allar

Middle weights would be stacked then add P. McKee and G. Steveson to start and finish... and then I woke up ^o)

I could be wrong on the timing, but weren't Stroker and Early both still on the team, when Robb and Lloyd verballed to SDSU?

Robb has had a great summer. Type of kid who keeps progressing every year. Dominated at the schoolboy level, struggled (relatively) a little bit as a cadet as he moved up in weight and now I think has settled into a good weight and filled out and is dominating everyone not named Lewan at the junior level.

Robb and Lloyd are great friends---if they could convince them to stay, that would be great. Unlike Gable and RBY, I think they are truly a "package" deal. I don't think Lloyd goes any bigger than 149 in college--Robb maybe does grow into 165. Eischens wrestled well and supposedly he wants to be a Gopher. Would be nice if some of the guys could get Robb and Lloyd to commit to the Gophers...could use more talent in the 149-165 weight classes.

I know both view themselves as career 125's and they are right. Just saying our strength program adds mass, so wouldn't be the most surprising thing if something changed. If Pat continues to progress, you ideally would like to find a spot for both of them. Again speaking hypothetically with Teske.

Is Eischens a better Folkstyle wrestler than he is at Freestyle? I just don't see the top talent I keep hearing about, he was not very impressive from what I saw in Fargo this week. He wouldn't have scored on Franek if they wrestleed for 20 min

Doesn't seem to effect other top tier wrestlers moving up in weight
