On a different note, Flo is reporting that Pat Downey is taking an official visit to Iowa http://www.flowrestling.org/article/59822-pat-downey-taking-official-visit-to-iowa#.WYNhhjjrtEY.

While he's a talented wrestler, I think the downside outweighs the upside, especially in a year when Iowa isn't going to be able to compete for a national title. I respect Tom Brands, and maybe he truly feels he can turn Downey around, but I don't think it would be a good idea to expose him to the young talent they have in the room. Sounds like he wouldn't be eligible until the second semester if it does happen.
Grab the popcorn. This guy at the Hawks would be super entertaining.
Well HE IS A HAWKEYE so strap up. What weight does he wrestle? 97 with with Wilke going down to 84?

Flo has him ranked #18 at 160 (right below Cade King) and projected as 157/165, but they are often a year behind on their weight projections.

I checked out Thomas, very nice.

Gable talked on the T.V. last night but this is the full interview.

Really liked the part where Gable talked about joining the gophers, have freeing or relieving it was.

Ya I don't get a lot of their weight projections. They typically lean on the lighter side in most scenarios.

Thomas? Or Gable?

Gable, 3x world champ. He's beat everyone.

Thomas, I don't scan names. I watch flo, YouTube, wherever I find matches and decide where his strengths/weaknesses are for myself. I'll also check record to see if he wins our loses second time he meets an opponent, check scores to see if they get closer our more dominate.

Welcome to Minnesota!

Interestingly he lost to Brayton Lee 9-3 in the semis of their state tournament, but came back to take 5th.

Probably a recruited walk on, right?

I would hope we are waiting to offer scholly money to Lee or maybe even Carr.

Kasper is a good guy to bring in. Has been 15-20th ranked at his weight class at times. 2nd at NHSCA JR Nationals, Flonationals AA, UWW Cadet nationals AA. Was getting looks from several D1 programs. Great developmental guy.

Lee is still highly sought after.

Carr is not looking at MN.

Nice recruit for Minnesota. The Gophers are good at taking kids like this and turning them into contenders...

McKenna to Ohio state. Flo says he'll likely move up to 149.
Shame we won't be able to see Tommy stick him again.

Also stuff will start to equal itself out pretty soon.. the wealth WILL spread, it's inevitable. For instance..

Penn State
149/157 Berge, Verk, N. Lee, J. Lee
They say N. Lee is 141 but I'll believe it when I see it and even if he can make it this year I doubt he can for 4 yrs. That means 4 blue chip wrestlers bidding for 2 spots and Nolf has 2 years left. Doubt these guys will want to ride the pine. And if Cortez can't make 133 and can't beat Nick Lee then I'm sure he'll transfer out for his senior year.

Then you got Joseph and Manville fighting for the 165 spot and I guarantee the loser isn't gunna be content with being a back up.

My point is with every boom there is a bust and the bust is coming soon to Penn State they will lose at least 3 blue chip recruits I guarantee. And with teams like Ohio State and Oklahoma State being so loaded, I think you'll start to see the mid top tier teams like MN, Neb, Mich, Cornell get some of those guys.. it will be interesting to see how everything plays out.

We will never catch them by hoping they lose whoever loses the spot. We need to get better guys than theirs and lots of them. We need Gable plus lots more

And with the in-conference transfer rule, its less likely the PSU guys end up within the Big10, some may (have year to burs).
