Nice win by McKee over Teske. Cael will soon recruit over him. Coaching someone up is a lot of work.
You seem very envious. Is everything OK?
You don't think he will?

Congratulations to him! I wouldn't have minded him staying home but i get it. I hope there is another quality 149-157 lber out there interested in the The Gophs!
Best of luck! Stanford is one of the top academic schools in the country, tough to pass up that opportunity.

Worthy to note - McIntosh finished 5th and Eischens 8th in the same bracket. Would love all MN kids to stay home, but can't get them all. Feels good to know we are still getting a top recruit in that weight range.

Patrick Kennedy beating Trent Hidlay needs to be talked about a lot more on the National stage. Hidlay was making news after his Who's Number 1? performance, then this Soph from Minnesota comes in and takes him out. Incredible. He should be shooting up some ranking boards.

For the love of god, I hope he's a Gopher! Watching Berge and Hall leave stunk.

Well the Gopher staff can't do much more than they are doing now. They are making the wrestlers on their roster better and wrestling best at the end of the year last year. No one, including me expected the results that we got on the national stage that Eggum and staff got out of them! That is after losing 2 high profile recruits who were slated to start at the beginning of the year. I for one am sure happy that Eggum got the job.

I see Kerkvliet visited ASU this past weekend. I sure hope he doesn't continue to grow past 197 but I understand why he needs to keep his options open in case he does. He seems like a great kid and wants to be a Gopher. The future is bright, but it would be much brighter if he was a part of it.

Just watched all Ryan Thomas' matches from his Super 32 championship run. Great hand fighting and powerful leg attacks. His style will translate very well to the Big Ten.

Nah, let’s just keep the chatter around here, in places such as Dinkytown. 😉

That’ll be fun. Good for Gable and McKee seeking out tougher competition.

You gotta love Pat McKee wrestling high-end talent three weekends in a row before the season even starts. Kid is a gamer and fun to watch.

What kind of competition will he face at 125? Is Lizak wrestling?

They will be plenty of quality 125's there.

Not sure McKee beating Teske in a very controlling manner got the pub it deserved.

Wasn't that long ago many fans here were debating Teske>McKee. I was probably guilty myself.

Pat has improved a tremendous amount in the last year. Excited for his future.

Also don't be alarmed if/when McKee drops a few matches this weekend. These guys are seasoned and there is still a gap between high school and college for most guys.

Kudos to him for wrestling up a level. No matter how he finishes the level of competition is far superior to HS. Gable on the other hand, won't have too much trouble, ,there just isn't the overall depth at HWT there is in the other weights. Most guys this big have dreams of the NFL or other sport they can make a living at post college. Top 10-15 HWTs are great, just not overall depth.

Does the DAK allow post-grads like Midlands? I'd love to see Kroells in there to raise the bar along with Streifel, Gable, etc.

I wrestled at the Daktronics after college. As with most opens you usually have to ask permission to enter.

Eischens to Stanford.
Getting off an airplane in San Francisco, San Jose, or Sacramento is like landing on another planet. Quality of life takes on a new meaning. Virtually every part of the country has issues of some type with mother nature/floods/fires/storms, but day to day in Nor Cal is tough to beat.

I lived in San Francisco for 14 years, a ways back and many people wouldn't be so comfortable with the CA earthquakes they have. I was waiting for a bus at Geary and Stockton (across the street from Saks 5A) back in 1989 when they had that big quake. Geary Blvd. was buckling like an ocean wave and windows were popping out from several stories up and falling to the sidewalk.

Earthquakes can be pretty scary, but they never bothered me a bit. Just brace yourself and ride it out!!
