Well that about puts a wrap on that amazing recruiting class!

What's 2018 looking like?
Now that Cael’s scholarship shell scam is exposed, the coaches that can coach will get the talent.

Next year's lineup could have a ton of Seniors if they redshirt Mitch and start Gable....and if some guys decide to bump up due to growth:

125-Petry-Sr. (P. McKee replaces him the following year)
133-Lizak-Sr. (Gliva ditto)
141-Volk-Sr. (M.McKee redshirting and bulking)
149-Thorn-Sr. (McIntosh ditto)
157-Bleise-Sr. (B.Lee ditto)
165-Allar-RFr. (Thomas ditto)
174-Krone-Sr. (Allar bumps up)
184-Webster-Jr. (Steffen ditto)
197-Steveson-Jr. (Joles ditto)
Hwt.-Steveson-Fr. (Streifel-Jr.)

Including Gable not redshirting...that could mean next year's incoming freshmen could have 6 4-year starters and if Steffen and Joles pan out after a couple years in the room 2 3-year starters (unless they are able to beat out the Srs ahead of them)...

Granted this isn't a given...but just looking at the potential of this senior class and seeing the roster we have now... doesn't this seem possible?

I like Polakowski at 133 if Lizak can stay down to 125. Thus bringing Bliese and Thorn down and inserting Champagne or Crowe into the starting lineup at 157.

I know nothing about Ryan Thomas but he looks like an absolute beast in his photo on Gopher Twitter page.
He really is...he looked like a future Natty Champ winning Super 32! At #63, he's ranked way too low, he looks like a top 10-20.

Anoncers for the Air Force match said Marko is a 141 lber, coaches were having him up at 149 to help him bulk up for down the road..
With what is already on the team to work with and develops and what's coming in I think they have some nice options for the next couple years!!

I wonder how Hunter Marko feels about this. He’s a guy that decommitted from Wisconsin, I’m sure with the understanding that he was going to be the man at 149 someday. Bleise has 2 years left and then is it Lee or Macintosh’s spot?

He probably is walking into the wrestling room right now for an extra workout.

125: Patrick McKee
133:
141: Jake Gliva
149: Kasper McIntosh
157: Brayton Lee
165: Ryan Thomas
174:
184: Caden Steffen
197: Garrett Joles
HWT: Gable Steveson

Gophers need bodies in the lower weights. It would be nice if Gliva could stay down at 33 for his career.

Max Crowe would be a nice get.
I know I'm going to get yelled at but Gophers need to shoot higher than Max Crowe.
I'm not going to yell at you, just remind you of what I said:

Quote:

Gophers need bodies in the lower weights.

He's the current #1 ranked AAA 113 pounder. Could be a career 126 pounder and has a brother on the Gophers team already.

I don't know how many other potential 125 pound blue chippers the Gophers can sign with P. McKee coming in.

Get after it
Nov 13 2017, 07:30 PM
It's official, just as Figure Four said, it's Minnesota.
Ever since Storley had too much to drink at We Fest and swore that he would be cutting to 165 for his Senior year and I put it out there, (he later sobered up and remembered he didn't like cutting weight) I've been very careful about throwing this stuff out there without being sure. Great day for the staff and the program. This proves that Eggum can recruit out of state, top tier kids. In the age of the "rich get richer" where talent is concerned, the Gophers are moving into the top tax bracket very quickly.

If Marko keeps his aggressive style and stays at 149 after this year, it would allow Bleise to go 157 next year (he might be cutting a lot)....Could mean PLee goes 157 all 4 years...allows Thorn to stay down. Can Polakowski really make 125 as a 5th year Sr. If Lizak goes up?

Good kid and great family, but he is not going to be the 125 pounder for the gophers. He does well in state, but gets handled by nationals kids.

Jacob Moran of Portage, IN was at the dual with Vega and McIntish. He would be a nice addition to the program at the lighter weights. Probably a career 125, unless a growth spurt occurs.

Depth is one thing big ten starters are another. Crowe has no out of state results that suggest the gophers should go after him hard.
