One to keep an eye on is sophomore Jesse Vasquez, CA. At the Ironman he beat Manville before losing to Joey Silva in ot. Lightning quick.

Gopher recruit Ryan Thomas is in the finals of the Ironman at 160. I really like this guys style. Nothing flashy, just a variety of basic shots with enough strength to power through the funk that gets thrown at him.

The Gophers will get a strong look from Kennedy. Kennedy will get a strong look from every team in the country.

I believe Kennedy and Ferrari have a little bit of a relationship through their competitions. Would be cool if the top two recruits in their class wanted to be Gophers. 174/184 and prob 197 for Ferrari.

I don’t think Sophomores can be contacted by coaches yet, but with the rules ever changing who knows.

Ferrari definitely looks like a future 197 to me.

We need to get Glazier AND King just incase we can't get Kennedy. Both have good upside and Glazier has been very impressive lately beating Kenny O'Neil last weekend and Peyton Robb before that. I'm big on Glazier and wouldn't be surprised if he beats Kennedy this year.
Glazier and King would be nice additions.

I hope Kennedy gives the Gophers strong consideration-- the Kasson guys do not seem to fully understand or appreciate the benefits of staying at home where they can enjoy a very strong fan support system. Regardless of where he goes to college, I hope he enjoys a quick recovery from the knee injury.

I also hope the coaches have had contact with AJ Ferrari (#4 ranked at 182 from Allen, TX) who is one of the top sophomores in the country -- I'm not sure we'd have a chance to land him, but definitely worth contacting.
Watched Glazier wrestle today, looks very well. But he was wearing a Hawkeye sweatshirt, uh oh (sarcasm)

If I’m not mistaken, Merola is a Cornell commit

Correct a Cornell recruit.

If I recall correctly, Robb was up with short time to go and got reversed and backed to lose.

Was hoping to see Gopher recruit Jake Gliva dominate the field at the Xmas tourney, instead he lost to Dylan Droegemueller in the semis.. 😨

Does anyone know about the college leans for Carlson boys (Clay & Cael) from Willmar? I know both of their dads wrestled at the U so I'm hoping we're taking a good hard look at them.

Also, I think they're cousins, but I could be wrong. They might be brothers.

I don't know about their relation, but I know the older generation were like a year apart and I think they each had 2-3 boys.

I think there is another one at 106 or 113 isn't there?

Yes, there's a 9th grader at 106 named Caden. Clay, a senior at 132, just won the Christmas tournament with a 5-1 win over Droegemueller and Cael, a junior, beat Sam Stuhl from Ellsworth 4-1 at 138.

Clay’s brother, Colton, is a redshirt freshman at SDSU. I’d think it would be between the Jacks and Gophers. I’d be happy either way.

I'm selfishly hoping to see the Carlsons follow Colton to SDSU. It's a better stylistic match and I feel like we would see a little more of them there. The transition from Willmer to Brookings is also probably much easier than the transition from Willmer to Minneapolis.

As an SDSU alum, I get what your saying but I’d say the Pfarr’s, Steinhaus, Volkman and countless others are from much smaller communities than Willmar. They didn’t have any issues with the transition
