I didn't know that they were dropping, and I have my doubts about Downey given his history. I was also assuming that Kingsley is going back down to 157. |

I think BK at 157 in his last two years can make some noise.... Hopefully Jake recuperates and if him and Wanzek make some serious strides as Sophomores, I think the Gophers will be better than expected. Obviously, Rose needs to get to 197 and show us what he's got otherwise when Berge is eligible in Jan. it'll be his spot and Brancale needs to have grown into 133 and hopefully improved from what we saw him there this year. Two things, it'll be interesting if Petry starts at 125 and Lizak redshirts....and who handles 174: Carr? Rothers? The other thing it'll be interesting to see what weights Stroker, Early and Stevson wrestle at the majority of the year. I assume it'd be nice to see them at 149, 157, and 184. Who knows for sure. I don't know if a lot of people expected Thorn to be at 141 all year last year... If Stevson wrestles 197 all year, not a good sign for Rose for 2016/17. I think we'll go this next year: RFr, Jr., RFr, So., Jr, So, RFr., Jr, RFr, Jr. Petry, Brancale, Thorn, Short, Kingsley, Wanzek, Carr, Pfarr, Rose, Kroells 2nd String: Polakowski-RFr, Morgan-Jr, Volk-RFr, Lange-6Sr (if he gets an extra year and comes back) or Shupe-Sr, Zeman-So/Bass-RFr/Dolezal-Sr (unknown on who is 2nd best here), D. Wright-RFr, Rothers-So, Daughtery-Sr. or Balow-RFr, Pfarr-So./then Berge-So., Destiche-RFr. Good chance we'll have 3 Seniors that are 2nd stringers (Lange or Shupe, Dolezal and Daughtery) |

I was looking at the class rankings that the guillotine just posted and I noticed that the gophers only picked up two of the top twenty recruits. Here is a break down of who got the most top Minnesota guys this year. NDSU 4 (4, 15, 16, 20) SDSU 3 (3, 6, 12) Minnesota 2 (2,5) SCSU 2 (9, 14) Arizona State 1 (1) UNI 1 (7) La Crosse 1 (11) Northwestern 1 (13) Michigan 1 (19) Malstrom and Hart are playing football, Joseph is playing baseball and Fitterer is planning to wrestle in college but is still weighing his options. |

I think we have 3 blue chippers in Steveson, Stroker and Early- I thought last year we only had one blue chip recruit (Thorn). We will just have to wait and see how these guys develop. I do like the size of both this year's and last year's recruiting classes- i think a lot of the non-blue chip athletes will develop very quickly, like Lizak, for example. Still hope we land Hall, but not confident that he will stay in Minnesota. Parriott and Webster would fit in nicely with next year's recruits. |

From the article: "Hall will return to the OTC after traveling to the senior world championships in Las Vegas in September to practice against the men. He will stay for at least another year, finishing high school online, while soaking up experience and technical know-how from the U.S. men." To me this means he is done at Apple Valley and wrestling high school in Minnesota, correct? |

I'm not the forum police. My comment wasn't directed to your comment. It was directed to my comment that somewhat hijacked your "recruit" post and turned it into a question about whether he was done wrestling "high school" in Minnesota. |

Stroker had a pretty good weekend. Beat a Mizzou Tiger redshirt freshman (next year). Beat a Wisconsin Badger junior (next year, I believe). Got handled by Zain Retherford. Beat Max Thomsen, a fellow Iowan that he lost to in folkstyle last season. Lost a close one to Ashnault. He beat who he should have beat, pinned his in-state rival recruit, and lost to two college All-Americans. Hopefully, he keeps improving once he gets into the Gopher wrestling room full-time. |

He also commented on twitter how sore he was, I wouldn't doubt if he was a little out of shape after returning from the MCL tear. Good showing overall though! |

Stroker vs Retherford. I watched the match. Close match before the final td to leg turk/pin. Fredy took him down twice and score was 4-4 to end 1st period. |

Of course, I really want him to be a Gopher. I want to root for him if he chooses to go somewhere else. Man it would be tough to root for him if he goes Hawkeyes. This reminds me of my feelings during the NCAAs. Please, anyone but the Hawkeyes. |

If nothing else that seems to say that ASU, PSU and Okie St are out of the mix. I thought there was a legit chance at either of those. |

Going through Flo's junior top 100 recruits, the following have MN listed among the schools in consideration. Mark Hall Keegan Moore Shawn Streck Carter Happel Griffin Parriot There may be more, I did not click on everyone Beau Breske did not have schools listed, but he is rumored to have slight interest in MN. Kamal Bey had the OTC listed and no colleges. PapaSlim had said two top 20 recruits will commit soon, one to Iowa and one to tOSU. Speculation lead to Isaiah White to tOSU and Bey to IA. Time will tell. Nick Suriano and Rudy Yates(beat McKee at Clash) have been talked about as being interested in IA, yet IA isn't listed on their schools of interest |

I think that Streck will probably go the football route, but he would be good to have. I think that Breske could be a big get for us, if we didn't have Hall in state I think there would be a lot of people advocating for us to go after him hard. |
