Brayton Lee starts his state tournament with a fall and 3 quick tech falls

http://www.ihsaa.org/Portals/0/boys%20sports/wrestling/2017-18/201718EvansvilleReitzSemiState.pdf

Indiana apparently has "semi-state" this week and finals next weekend.

Winners of four semi states advance to state is my understanding.

And Kasper McIntosh won his semi-state bracket also.

how do these "semi-state's"work?

Obviously in MN, with less programs then the 80's and early 90's...there is no more "sub-sections" that feed the sections.

How does it break down in IN?

No, my question was this, how does this tournament work in relation to the post and regular season?

Does EVERYONE qualify to "Semi-State" like everyone goes to Sections here.....and what number from each bracket goes on to state?

Here, you have a Regular season, everyone qualifies for Sections, top two go to state. (8 sections x 2 equals 16 man state bracket).

There, they have a regular season...then what? Sections/Districts to qualify for "Semi state" or is "Semi-state" their "sections"?

They had 16 man brackets with 30+ teams per tournament, so I would guess there was a qualifier for semi-states.

According to a thread I was reading on themat.com, the top 4 of each semi-state advance. Indiana is a one class state.

I like the 1 class system for individuals!

This may have been posted before. At about 7'40" you can see a match between current and future Gophers, Dylan Anderson and Garrett Joles. I believe this was two years ago when Anderson was a senior and Joles a sophomore. Very similar styles in my opinion. Both are goers.

Doesn’t exactly give Minnesota a ringing endorsement.

I'm very thankful that things change. I just found it interesting because I'd never heard him mention Iowa before. Helluva job by Eggum and Becker to keep him here if he was such an Iowa fan.

I’m just glad we got him! Hope Bobby heals well and glad he was able to keep his bro home.

I guess I always hoped he was named after the famous Stan Gable from The Revenge of the Nerds and not the little-known former Hawkeye coach with a similar name.

Anyone interested in the DiBlasi brothers who left ISU...younger one could redshirt with Pat M. Next year and give us an option at 125 or 133...the older one would be a 157/165 lber with 2 years left..(one of which would give us someone with some experience while the kids redshirt next year)...given that Jose C, Crowe or a bulked up Bleise are our options

Why turn down an experienced wrestler in the 157/65 area and another guy to add to the mix in 125/33...seems like those spots would be good to add another competitor to the mix.

Why pass? Cause they aren't from MN....

Word is that nationally ranked 195 pounder Nick Casperson (Fresno State) is going to be bumping up to heavyweight for the postseason to get a shot at Nash. Should make things interesting at the SD state tournament.

That should be a very short match for Nick.

McKee is listed as #2 125 prospect by Flo. They also speculate that he could start right away.
