Going through Flo's junior top 100 recruits, the following have MN listed among the schools in consideration.

Mark Hall
Keegan Moore
Shawn Streck
Carter Happel
Griffin Parriot

There may be more, I did not click on everyone

Beau Breske did not have schools listed, but he is rumored to have slight interest in MN.

Kamal Bey had the OTC listed and no colleges. PapaSlim had said two top 20 recruits will commit soon, one to Iowa and one to tOSU. Speculation lead to Isaiah White to tOSU and Bey to IA. Time will tell.

Nick Suriano and Rudy Yates(beat McKee at Clash) have been talked about as being interested in IA, yet IA isn't listed on their schools of interest
Only Iowa fans think Rudy is interested in Iowa.

MN would be a good fit for Kamal Bey. He's a fun wrestler to watch and has a lot of upside in my opinion.

Why would he come here and be behind Hall for four years?? ;)

Hall, if MN lands him, will end up either at 165 or 174. Bey could wrestle the weight Hall doesnt, as I anticipate Stevenson will be 184 or more likely 197 by that time. My comment was generally saying that MN is a good place for Bey as they have the MN Storm Greco team. Which a few MN Gophers are on but havent started much for the Gophers in intercollegiate folkstyle...

Griffin is currently at the OTC, and will be making a decision when he gets back - and prior to Fargo. At this time - Griffin has not committed anywhere. :)

I've been following the Gophers for the last 10 years or so and hardcore for the last 5. I'm not sure I even remember Purdue having a wrestling team.

I Just looked up Purdue - Ironically they and the gophers each had 8 NCAA qualifiers last year - did not look if they had any AA's.

They have been pretty forgettable for their entire history, they're usually in the bottom two or three teams in the big ten. They've only had 12 all-Americans in the last 15 years (only 2 in the last five) and three three national champions in the almost 90 year history of the program. They recently hired a new head coach in Tony Ersland who must have a lot of intangibles because on paper his only notable accomplishment is being at Nebraska at the same time as Jordan Burroughs. Suffice to say, if Parriott chooses Purdue, it won't be because of the wrestling team. But, there's certainly nothing wrong with that.

Purdue isn't a downgrade from the U. Maybe in wrestling but Purdue is a phenomenal school for engineering. Hope he stays home but will cheer for him wherever he goes, great kid!

I see Parriott is announcing tomorrow. I think it is a good sign for Gophers that he has been hanging with Freddy Stroker alot at the OTC.

Fredys old teammate is looking at the Gophers.

A AWN writer tweeted that Grif is headed to Purdue, hope he is incorrect.

Griffin was not at a huge weight of need, but whenever you have a stud in state prospect like Parriott you would like to get him.

Griffin said a few more top recruits are following him to Purdue. Flo speculates it may be heavyweight prospect Shawn Streck who is on the Gophers radar.

There is a chance that 3 of the top 4 MN wrestlers (Hall, Moore, Parriott) all leave the state for college. With McKee committed, it would be nice to get at least one of Hall or Moore to make a solid in state duo. I will certainly take all three though!

We don't really know what the offer to Parriott was to from Gophers. I am sure Hall is being offered full ride and I believe D1 wrestling is only 9.5 scholarships. Purdue could have offered him a larger scholarship than the Gophers potentially

9.9 is scholly limit and I would presume he received a larger offer from Purdue.

I forgot Purdue was on Keegan Moore's radar as well. That would sting if he followed Grif.

Good spot for GP. It would have been tough for the gophs to fit him in. I hope he does great at Purdue.

We need to give Mark Hall as much as possible.

Well that sucks! -1 for Eggum and Jay Rob.

Tell me 5 guy's on this team with more upside than Parriot? Good luck, because you can't and if you do, you lied.

The Gophers have 6 freshmen incoming this fall at 149/157, and as much as I would of have liked to see him as a Gopher, well, you do the math. If he projected as a career 149, the Gophers would have pushed a lot harder for him, but I believe Griffin wants to wrestle 157. At 149 he would be a much better fit here, being 3 years younger then Short, and the high probability that Stroker and Early will be bigger then 149 eventually.
At Purdue he will have a much better chance to start right away at the weight of his choice.

G.P. was the one guy I thought we would get. Moore is a long shot and Hall is 50/50 at best.

What makes me nervous is after listening to flowrestling live, which included Parriott's announcement, is that Griffin stated that there are "at least two others that he knows who will be committing to Purdue in the near future." Does this then include Moore? I would say potentially yes. Not good for gopher fans!

An article on Shawn Strecks recruiting process. Plans to committ after football and before wrestling.

My guess is Kannon Storr is one of the Purdue recruits Griffin was referring to.

JRob and Becker gave Streck an in home visit on July 1st. UNI, Purdue and Indiana did the same. The #1 heavyweight is in high demand.

Wrestling is a needs based recruiting process. In the 149-157 weight range, there are several guys on the roster that COULD have better careers than G.P. Off the top of my head....Short, Stroker, Early, and Brolsma. My guess is G.P. would have likely chosen the Gophers if this was a weight that they really needed. I do think Griffin will be a very good college wrestler, unfortunately it won't be for the maroon and gold.
