Thomas is ranked 3rd at 160 and Freeman 19th per intermat.

Thomas is #2 and Freeman was unranked per The Open Mat.

I can't check FLO because there lame and make you pay to see rankings now.
Flo rankings- Ryan Thomas #2/ Kevon Freeman #18

Freeman is now a 3xOH champ? Why hasn't he signed with anyone?

I'm not sure what the deal is. He had about 5 losses on the year and lost in the quarters, I think, of The Ironman, which Thomas won.

Becker and Schlatter are at the tournament, so hopefully they have some recruiting leads for next year.

Connor Brady-152 and Carson Kharchla-170 are both from the same HS Olentangy Liberty...

A couple 126lbers including one from St. Paris Graham and St. Ed's...

All are top 50 Juniors from Ohio...

126lbrs could be looked at as 133lbers...

Hope not, Auggie needs him at 165 or 174 next year. (The have a pretty good backup at 165--McFarland who will be a Sr. and another at 174-S. Nielsen who will be a Soph.), but unsure if the guys will bump up to replace Larson at 184 or they can recruit someone for the weight. Vassar went from a 149/157lber in 16/17 to 7th at 174 this year. Don't know if he is having a H. Zilmer-like growth spurt. They have a pretty strong team (2nd) and most are underclassmen and guys like Benick at 197 should only get better with more mat time. They need a Hwt. that can win and someone to slot in at 184.

Plus the Gophers have J. Allar at 165 next year....and maybe Thomas or Allar at 165 or 174 for the years after that.

Wonder if Dustin and Becker go after K. Freeman like JRob and Comp. did with Manny Rivera after he beat/placed higher then M. Reiter back in '03 or '04 at the Nat. HS tournament. Both became mainstays in the lineup for years....

Could always use more guys around 157-174. Even with Allar in the recovery from his knee, Thomas coming on board and Lee for 149/157....don't know why a 3x champ from OH is not signed at this point...grades?

I guess the the other 184 & Hwt at Augsburg should just give it up According to this statement.

We shall see the boy has always been an underdog. ;)

Looks like there are some solid potential recruits in the 113AAA bracket. Rogotzke 7th grader, Cardinal 9th grader, Schrempp and Lunn 10th graders... all 4 of them look pretty solid gonna be fun to see them all grow

[/quote]Larson (the other 184lber) graduates...

Hofracker-So is the only Hwt. listed on the roster and was 10-24. Not good enough.

There are two other 184lbers listed. Lorenzo Hernadez-So. 12-17 and Johnny Zarnke-So. 16-20.

I by no means think they "should give up" by any means as long as they love the sport and want to continue to wrestle. Their goal should be to get better. My point about people moving up to fill Larson's spot and to get another Hwt. In the room is an OBJECTIVE analysis on how to improve a very good team and increase their chances to win a title. Hofracker needs competition in the room and Auggie needs a Hwt. to first off have a winning record, secondly make NCAA's next year and lastly, score points at NCAA's to help the team via wins and placement. As a fan and alumnus of the school I would like the team to win. Unfortunately Hofracker hasn't done much winning and didn't qualify for Nationals. The two 184's haven't put up a winning record in two seasons yet either so unless there is a huge leap of improvement from any or all 3 of them, the team needs new starters in both weights. Not trying to butt hurt you or your son or any backup, just making a reasonable observation based on stats and history of the 3 involved and comparing us vs. the reigning champs....

What about this analysis do you think is wrong?

Sorry but right know I don’t see Schrempp as a D1 guy. Could be wrong, but I don’t see it.

The same can't be said for every other weight because at every other weight other than 197, the person that finished the year as the starter has at least one All-American finish or more on his resume'. (Gliva @125 and Flynn@141 were AA's in '17 and NQ's this year, the other what classes: 133, 149, 157, 165 and 174 were AA's this year and Jeske was an AA last year too). The only one left off is Benick at 197. He didn't qualify for NCAA's but finished 11-5 for his first true competition in the past 3 years--since HS. And with his resume and from what I understand as his desire to be better then he was, I am not worried about that weight with him. He was beating the eventual NC from Wartburg in the dual back in early February...but lost by 1. I am sure he isn't happy about his Regionals but I believe he will do better with a full year of wrestling under him. As for butt hurting ya, I apologize and maybe my post didn't seem to give them enough respect, but I know how hard D3 wrestling is and I respect what they do, but I also know that when it comes to starting quality wrestlers for Auggie, the three I mentioned including your son have fallen short at this point. Hopefully they improve and can meet that standard, but if they are starting and posting a losing record, they won't do the team much good at NCAA'S when they are sitting in the stands in street clothes.

Larry, don't pay any mind to the haters. That guy in Jake's corner doesn't even look like you :D
All kidding aside, hopefully Jake has recovered from his injury and back at full strength. Looking forward to seeing him in action next year.

Jakes-Man. West
M. Trigg-Foley
B. Frankfurth-Anoka

All are pretty good...figured Jakes is probably a stud football player and getting $$ to go play somewhere....but hadn't heard of any of them going anywhere yet.

I was definitely not hating on Allar! I was just pointing out that Kharchla is a tough kid, obviously tough if he edged out Allar...who I think very highly of and look forward to seeing him start for the gophers in the coming years!!

My whole point was that if he is keeping up with Allar and Kennedy he would be a good prospect for the gophers.

Good for Trigg and Davidson--didn't even know they had a D1 wrestling program. I know the Curry brothers were solid BB players for them years ago..

Good for Jakes and Gustavus. Would've loved to see him play for the alma mater(Augsburg) as the Auggie Football team could use more solid guys AND he'd probably have been a good college wrestler.
