Ryan Lewis. From Utah, he wrestled for the Gophers just two years, NCAA runner up both seasons to Johnny Thompson of Oklahoma State, losing 5-4 and 5-3.
He was there 3 yrs. Backed up Brett Lawrence and Erikson at 133/141 his sophomore yr.
True...I should have said he was in the lineup for two years.

Just tagging on: Lewis spent one year at NDSU before transferring in to MN. Unbelievably entertaining and strong as an ox for his size. Last I heard/read he found his way into the CrossFit world as a trainer....not at all shocked.

Do the Gophers ever recruit out west? Because Theorius Robison (133/141 from Colorado) and Jaden Abas (141/149 from California) are two of my favorite recruits that will be seniors next year.

Both are ranked highly and have done well in national competition. They could headline our 2019 class along with some in-state guys.
They got one guy from Montana a while back. Braydon Uggem or Braxton Egunem....something like that.
Gresh Jones??
Gresh was a 4-time state champ from Sidney Montana. He left after the 2016-2017 season to wrestle for Dickinson State where he finished fourth in NAIA at 133 this year. Great kid but never really produced the results that the Gophers were hoping for.

My initial point has been somewhat missed. Gophers should reach way out west and look at Abas from CA and Robison from CO. Anyone watched them?

Abas strikes me as a likely Fresno State lean

That would make sense, and honestly I’d be all for it. We need more good wrestling programs on the west coast.

Yes and I hope we get land him but as someone else stated, very doubtful.

I'm not sure the Gophers land any top 20 recruits on Flo's rankings next season. Hopefully I'm wrong about that.

Dream Team Classic

April, 14th

Brayton Lee vs Jacorri Teemer

Teemer is ranked #3 and Lee #5 overall recruit per Flo.

Gable is #1. When is the last time the Gophers landed 2 top 5 overall recruits?

Why do you think that? We have good momentum after this class. Not even one?

Hopefully they do.

When looking at who's not already committed or verballed in the top 20 vs what weights we need and location of those wrestlers. I'm as curious as the next to see what happens....

Sr. Nationals:

145-K. McIntosh is in the quarters...

160-R. Thomas is also in quarters...

ONLY Minnesotan I saw in the qtrs was Bobby Striggow at 195.

Didn't see any Minnesotan in the Jr. Qtrs..No idea about So. or Fr. nationals...

a bit disappointing. Anyone know how many others are still alive in consolation?

In a different thread, his father thinks 165 is too big for him next year.

Nice come from behind win. He looked very composed. I wonder why he had such a rough high school state championship tournament?
