Thomas is good all around. Hammer on top. Goes after it. He's a good fit for the Gophers.

REALLY, REALLY like what I see in Thomas. Great freight train double and seems very solid on top. Comes from a decent program I guess

Jacori Teemer, who will be Brayton Lee's opponent at the Dream Team match in Indiana, won the 152 class.

We have some great middle weight talent coming in, to go along with the bookends.

Thomas and McIntosh both advance to the finals.
Trett Joles, WI (Garrett's brother) is in the 182 lb Freshman final tomorrow.
Joles was up 9-2 and won by injury default. Hit a cement mixer and had a couple of big throws. Good hips and aggressive style.

Observed in the background during HWT finals: Thomas in street clothes carrying his bracket sheet.....wearing a prominent MN logo on a maroon jacket!

I know Lloyd and Robb are jacked up, but any chance they follow Bono?
I wouldn’t.
Hey Cotton, do you still think Bono is staying at SDSU??
Didn’t but I guess it’s right of with his reputation so I’m not surprised. Surprised about Reader though.

Being Caption Obvious here- this is a very very good recruiting class of GS, PM, Lee, Thomas. That is potentially four very solid starters, right? Gliva, Steffen, National champ Casper, and couple i'm forgetting make this the best this year.
Wonder what we'll get the following year? Wish college had a 220 weight class, a world champ would fit perfectly there.

Garrett Joles is the one most often forgotten. Think he can be a solid starter some day as well.

The good Lord always has my back cuz I have faith in him, that being said I prayed that Robb would be a Gopher so consider it done. ;)

All kidding aside I think Robb gives Minnesota a good look now that he can re open up his commitment.

Think Gopher fans gotta let go of the Robb & Lloyd dream. Similar to the Kerkvliet dream.

Not sure why you would say that now that Bono is leaving? If Bono was staying at SDSU I would say no way, but now that’s hes leaving what incentive do Robb and Lloyd have to stick around?

SDSU has a full 9.9 scholarships. Vough left, the Portillos left, Bye left. Kocer, Zilverberg, Rotert and Macki graduate. It is rumored that Connor Brown will be leaving.

I’d imagine both Lloyd and Robb have nice financial incentive to stick with their commitment to SDSU.

Isn't Lee more of a 157lber? McIntosh is more of a 149lber...

Gliva is probably the likely 133lber--but I think they should go after others. Would be nice to see them get the Carlson's...I doubt Lloyd and Robb change their commitment.

#21-Ford-Melton out of IL was a 120lber this year, maybe he'll be 126 or 132 next year or at least could grow into the weight? Heard he is buds with Gable.

Abas and Robison were mentioned earlier, but both are listed at 138 as Jrs....the likelihood that they will be able to make 133 after 1 more year of HS as 138 or 145lbers, then a redshirt year...is highly unlikely.

Among the top 50 Jrs.--Intermat

#12-Andrew Alirez-CO-132
#17-Chris Cannon-NJ/Blair-126, their 120lber-Michael Colaiocco is ranked #27
#28-Dylan D'Emillo--OH --126
#33-Jordan Crace-OH--St. Paris Graham-126
#39-Ridge Lovett-ID--126, we had good luck with the Lawrence's from Idaho....
#41-Cleveland Belton-CA-126
#44-Malyke Hines-FL-120

That is just the top 50, I am guessing sometime this Summer or late Spring, Intermat expands it to the top 100 Seniors... some of these are not in areas with tons of D1 schools (like ID, CO and FL) so the likelihood if they want to wrestle in college at D1 means they'd have to leave their home state.....if the Gophers want to get some more talent for 133--looking at 120 and 126lbers that are Juniors are probably the best way to project for a 133lber. in 2-3 years; Gliva is a very good wrestler, but is he D1 starter material? Maybe not....as I've pointed out (and probably will be proven over the next 4 years w/B. Jones), 3-4 time champs in MN does not mean what it used to. The people that defend the 3 class system as NOT watered down have their head either in the sand or areas of their own anatomy that get no sunlight....

We need to continue to bring in out of state talent that are legit D1 starter material and develop it. Guys like Gable, PM, MM and others can supplement the outstate talent to create a NC team...(see Pedophile St. U's team this year, 5 of 8 AA's were out of state talent). As people have pointed out on here, the lack of D1 talent in MN in the next couple years is pretty obvious. Kerk in the class of '19---most definitely---only Gable not being at the U of MN will get him to stay before he signs on with OK State in Nov. '18....Kennedy--class of '20, obviously a D1 talent---would love for him to state in state. Likely will be a Hawkeye. Pickell--probably. King and Glazier next year might be diamond in rough type...

After watching that match I think it's pretty obvious little McKee should red-shirt. Even if hes better then our current 125ers it will benefit both him and the team in the long run.

Him and his brother can red-shirt together 💪

Agreed. Both should redshirt. We have decent 125 backups with P-ski and Petry. I wouldn’t pull P Mckee redshirt. He has some growing to do as well.

Here's a comment from on a Penn state forum I was reading....

"Seems like we’ll get similar results from younger McKee as older McKee in the future. Not a dominating force but funky. Can pull off an upset but could lose a winnable match"

Sr. Nationals:

145-K. McIntosh is in the quarters...

160-R. Thomas is also in quarters...

ONLY Minnesotan I saw in the qtrs was Bobby Striggow at 195.

Didn't see any Minnesotan in the Jr. Qtrs..No idea about So. or Fr. nationals...

a bit disappointing. Anyone know how many others are still alive in consolation?
Craig Orlando won it at HWT for sophomores. Class A HWT state champ this year.

Not sure how you can reopen a commitment after you have already sign a Binding Agreement called the National Letter of Intent.

http://www.nationalletter.org/frequentlyAskedQuestions/bindingAgreement.html#

It specifically states, is an NLI binding if the coach of my sport leaves the institution? Yes. The NLI you signed with an institution remains binding if the coach who recruited you leaves the institution with which you signed. When you sign an NLI, you sign with an institution and not with a coach or a specific team.

When a coach is fired and or leaves a program they usually let the current players and recruits decide if they want to stay.

You can't punish the athletes when coaches can leave on a dime and nothing happens.
