Kennedy commits to Iowa
We knew it was coming, but it doesn't take away the sting. Boy, Iowa is shaping up to give Penn State a run in a year or two.
Maybe he can spend his redshirt year at Iowa and then transfer to the Gophers... Maybe there is a secret plot to burn up other Big 10 schools' recruiting bucks and then jump ship when it counts...

Patrick Kennedy to Iowa
Verballed via twitter last night. He “wanted to commit early to help the Brands and Mark Parry develop a recruiting strategy for 2020”

I paraphrased that a bit, but the kid seems very smart.
I hope we can put to rest the eventual narrative that “the Gophers let this kid get away”. Believe me, I was hopeful given his connection to Erickson.....but this kid has been Hawkeye everything from what appears to be early childhood

While he's obviously really good, I'm not so sure he's as elite as the rankings are saying. I don't recall Hall, Gable, or Kerkvliet placing 6th at any tournaments.

Ha Iowa Forum will have fun with this. Although I think some there have had similar takes on Teasdale at times.

I agree. I don’t think Kennedy will be unanimously number 1 in his class by the end. Not saying he’s not elite and it’s a major bummer he’s going to Iowa, but you know.

Its not like Kennedy committing to Iowa is a surprise, I'm glad he committed early, so we don't have to have any false hopes or dreams and can move on in putting in our time on recruiting other options

After the Stoll gunshot wound, you would think the Kennedy family would reconsider safety issues at iowa. I hope that Stoll has a quick recovery but how in the world did he suffer a gunshot wound at 4:30 in the morning?

Probably getting ready for an early morning wabbit hunt in Iowa city.

In all seriousness, hope Sam makes a complete and speedy recovery.

I was being a smarta$$ with my previous comment and I hope no one is offended. I hope Sam recovers quickly. He's had to deal with too many injuries during his career and seems like a great young man.

Patrick is the top recruit in that class getting sixth had more to do with weight he was forced to wrestle than his ability. They have 10kg between each weight class at the cadet level, or 22lbs. The Hawks got a great one. I don't think he is Gable or Kerk or Hall, but he is great, and will have a real good chance to be a multiple time All American for Iowa, and a possible Nat Champ.

AJ and Anthony Ferrari are moving to New Jersey to wrestle for Blair Academy. Should both be gopher targets.

Your statement is completely ridiculous. Show me the last time a sophomore won super 32 at that weight all while knocking off the sitting #1 at the time.

The U doesn't seem to have a lot of "ins" with Blair Academy.

Which former Gophers attended Blair?

It would help the U if Blair would become regulars at the Clash.

We landed Mario Mason out of there. Was Cooperman a Blair guy? Obviously neither end of their career here.

Where does Patrick rank among some of the studs to have most recently gone through KM ?

Brady Berge, Sam Stoll, Garret Garness, Noah Ryan, Keaten Schorr, Broc Berge, Nate Thomas, Colton Laganiere…

I would put him behind Berge and Stoll. Not much behind though. All are very talented.

While being ranked #1 at the time, Wittlake has been trending down this past season.

Truth be told Penn State got lucky again. Instead of Wittlake, they now got Aaron Brooks and instead of Chance M, they got Mark Hall. Pretty comical how that worked out for them.

At 138, Clay Carlson beat #8 (145) Jordan Crace 11-10 in Greco.
at 120, Svihel got a shot at #11 Lucas Byrd but lost 11-0 in Greco.

Flo doesn’t factor in Greco results for rankings Typically.
