It's pretty sad they have zero commits so far. Almost all other top programs have multiple highly ranked wrestlers committed.

Its possible. I think it is probably more tied to the fact that Iowa is a wrestling destination (blah). And Penn state is really good right now. (barf) I can only think of a few kids we have lost to other programs in the last 5 years, Parriott and Florell to Purdue, Striggow to Michigan, Eishens to Stanford. I guess Gross to SD via Iowa. Kerk wanted to be here but for whatever reason can't. How many of those kids was Minny hard after?

Iowa- Berge, Stoll, Gross, Kennedy, Glazier, Cashmen
Penn St - Hall, Berge (only 2 but its a big 2)

How many of these kids were they?

edit - Add Robb and Lloyd to that list
You don't have to be very old to remember a time when Minnesota was a wrestling destination. We used to win national titles, set attendance records and get number one recruiting classes. I think that you might be right that Iowa is seen as a place with a strong wrestle culture while Minnesota might not be as much, it's really sad to think that this transition only happened in the last couple of years with the coaching changes, the Xanax scandal, and the rise of the RTC as a recruiting tool.
I think Minnesota still is a wrestling destination and I hate Iowa but it has been a destination since the 70's, not the last couple of years.

I think we all need to take a deep breath. We’re getting a top-3 recruiting class into the room this fall, and both Minnesota guys that have gone to Iowa recently said they’ve been Iowa guys for life. There are still some studs for 2019 uncommitted.

In D1 wrestling it appears between recruiting high school and recruiting transfers there is no opportunity to take a breath....

Park a John Deere tractor outside the new athletic building and plant some corn by the football field. Let the recruiting begin...

In the glory days Minnesota didn't have to compete with SDSU, NDSU, and UNI for Division 1 recruits.

The rise of mid majors and increased depth/parity across the Big Ten has really made life difficult for all coaches.

He was one of my favorite guys to watch at NCAA's.

As for recruiting, I will save my judgement until the class is complete.

Does difficult for all coaches include Cael. He seems to be doing ok with recruiting.

Getting sick of southern MN guys going to Iowa lately. Pretty sad if they grew up loving Iowa when MN was also winning national titles and competing just fine with the turds from the south.

Luka Wick is #39, Brandvold recruited older brothers to WI.

Internet sensation Steve-O also cracks the list at #58. https://youtu.be/iwPX0vnKDXA

I have watched Glazier wrestle a few times last season and season before, was always supporting Hawkeye material. Probably latched on as a young kid, when he was under 10 was when they were winning national championships and probably just stuck. Still sucks he is going to Iowa, but Minnesota gotta go find someone else

I would guess assistant Hawkeye coach Ben Berhow (graduate of Albert Lea High, and former state heavyweight champ ) was instrumental in Glazier's decision.

I really like this kid. I wonder where he's been visiting thus far and if he plans on committing early. I'm sure he's concentrating on doing well at Fargo and then waiting for offers to flow in. He definitely is a stud.

Sure doesn’t hurt he’s a coaches kid. His dad was a star at Dickinson State and heard chatter from locals that Kyle would follow suit.

Safe to say, his profile continues to rise and his D-I options have become more prevalent.

There are a lot of different factors going into a college decision.

Southern Minnesota communities especially communities near or south of I 90 have a larger Iowa fanbase for all sports. Allegiance doesn't always end/begin at an imaginary line.

Unlikely, I don't think the Jacks have gotten a recruit from North Dakota in the DI era, strange being that the Bison have done a descent job in South Dakota. More likely Dickenson than SDSU, but it's probably the Bison.
