Word at Jr Duals was something ending in DSU.
I hope that starts with an S.
Unlikely, I don't think the Jacks have gotten a recruit from North Dakota in the DI era, strange being that the Bison have done a descent job in South Dakota. More likely Dickenson than SDSU, but it's probably the Bison. I mean.....technically they got Sykora from ND. Never mind, bad example

Getting sick of southern MN guys going to Iowa lately. Pretty sad if they grew up loving Iowa when MN was also winning national titles and competing just fine with the turds from the south.
There are a lot of different factors going into a college decision. Southern Minnesota communities especially communities near or south of I 90 have a larger Iowa fanbase for all sports. Allegiance doesn't always end/begin at an imaginary state border.
Imaginary?? Pretty sure there is a real state border..😂😂 I meant to say imaginary line.

Off the top of my head the only starter for ndsu from South Dakota I can think of is stribal and I don’t know if I consider him an impact starter.

Interesting tidbit;
All top 10 ranked kids at 182 according to Flo are class of 2019, and only two have committed. Abe Assad is #1 and uncommitted, though he is rumored to Iowa. Gophers should pull another stud from Illinois!

Stibral is just a fresh wound and I assumed that there had been more. He was actually only the second SoDak wrestler that they have been able to get in the past fifteen years or so.

Bennett Berge is ranked 5th in Flo’s freshman rankings. More than likely going to IA or PSU... not sure how this recruiting class is going to look... we are slow out of the gate right now. really hope we can find some underrated kids that have the work ethic to be AA's.

I wonder if the reason we are not hearing much is because maybe they have some dimonds in the rough on the roster they feel are going to step up along with some of the recruits from last year and Allar....

There are also PLENTY of uncommitted from the class of 2019 still available. Some really good wrestlers still out there.

As a gopher fan, watching Kerkvliet wrestle makes me sad.
He is absolutely phenomenal. Kerkvliet initially committed to the U, but didn't want to sit behind Gable for 2 years. So here's my best case scenario:
Kerk goes to OSU and starts his fresh and soph years. He then transfers to the U and redshirts during Gable's senior year. He gets the benefit of wrestling Gable every day. Gable wins another title and then graduates. Kerk wrestles his junior and senior years and wins 2 NCs. Everybody wins!
Now someone just needs to tell Kerk about the plan.

Interesting comment right after a young man travels overseas and wrestled his heart out. As a parent I will tell you this forum and people like you are the reason Minnesota is losing recruits. Which is unfair to Eggum and Becker who are great coaches. Also the entire Gopher team has a number of excellent young men who are attempting to achieve their goals. You can sideline quarterback or actually support them. I know my son and myself regardless of who he wrestles for will always cheer for those young men. We love them all even if they are our competition.
Just to share a inside perspective. I have personally had people tell me who are current, past and future recruits that at least my son will not have to deal with this forum. I am not sure if people on this forum realize the damage they cause by talking behind screen names about kids.
On a side note, I am not big on forum responses since this is my first response. But I am more than willing to meet up and discuss your thoughts face to face. I would actually love the opportunity seriously. Dm me if you are up to it.

Couldn’t agree more with everything you have said. It’s kind of a double edge sword. Kids are considered great as long as they stay in state, but if they commit out of state they get eaten up and spit out. Good luck to Greg and his future. I have NO doubt that he will be a NCAA National Champ...By the way if you would like to buy me a drink and wings I will meet with you 😂

I hope you read all the positive comments too. I know the vast majority of this forum are huge fans of your son and wish him success wherever he goes. Obviously we are Gopher fans and would have loved to have seen a Kerkvliet/Steveson combo as both are once in a lifetime athletes but it just doesn't work. I know every forum has some Negative Nellies, but I think the lions share of us are a pretty positive bunch. Heck, we're still trying to run scenarios where we get the best of both worlds!
Best of luck to Daniel, you should be very proud.

Well, there you have it. This is not surprising at all given some of the moron posters.
It’s fair to say the majority of posters support Greg and hope he achieves all his goals. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t suck big time (selfishly, as fans, of course) that we won’t get to see this tremendous talent wrestle as a Gopher.
Anytime your head rises above the crowd, you’re gonna take some tomatoes to the old noggin. Greg has definitely risen above.
All the best to you & your son.

I was just taken back by the comment so soon after a really tuff day for my kid. I got to tell you being a life long gopher fan I felt for a second like so many others. Please take care and support our gopher boys. Gable is an amazing young man along with Hunter, Allar, Webster, both McKee’s and Joles. Also you have some young men coming in like Lee who my family loves. Support them as they try to bring a title to Minnesota and know that those boys along with Venz and Berge have been huge in my sons life.

I do and am so thankful for many of you and the support you provide my son.
Absolutely, we'll continue to support all of them, as long as they don't go to Iowa :)Thankfully I've always liked Arizona State and Zeke! Now I'm really confused

As a gopher fan, watching Kerkvliet wrestle makes me sad.
He is absolutely phenomenal.
Kerkvliet initially committed to the U, but didn't want to sit behind Gable for 2 years. So here's my best case scenario: Kerk goes to OSU and starts his fresh and soph years.
Is Kerk going to be a 4 time runner up?? 3 to Gable and once to 2 sport star at the U Nash Hutchmacher (SP?).. Gonna be ELITE!!
I think most folks are sad your son got so big as they were dreaming of him and Gable back to back for several years. Best of luck to him in all his endeavors.

Made a comment that he would be a four time runner up to GOPHERS. That's it. So, are you saying your son or Mark Hall chose not to go to the U because of this message board? If so, kids and parents need to get thicker skin IMO because this place is sliver of a representation of the fan base as a whole.
If you will excuse me, I'm going to create a couple aliases on other boards and talk to trash to turn recruits away from those schools. peace n cheers
