Three recruits that at one point in time considered Minnesota, committed elsewhere today. Breske to Nebraska, Happel and Wagner to Iowa. Was really hoping for Breske.

With the recruitment of Owen Webster, how hard do you think the Gophers were going after Breske? How many 184 pounders do the Gophers want to spend scholarship money on?

I was sorry to lose Wagner to Iowa however.

I also wondered how'd Breske would fit in. If Hall breaks our hearts and goes elsewhere, I really hope we land White this year and Berge next year. @#$%, I hope we land them all anyways but you get the gist.

Early
Stroker
White
Berge
Webster
Steveson

All in know particular order but that would be a fantastic group of wrestlers.

I like the fact for the Gophers that he is undecided on his last visit between ASU and Neb. I look at it if that is the case then they are not really a factor in getting him as a commit. This is a three horse race IMO Ohio State, Penn St and MN. Looking at their rosters he fits best at MN

If that 174 pounder wrestles for the Twin Cities, I think we will have a party down in city Hall. Could you imagine the positive reMarks he will get for staying home and give back to the program that helped him out so much?

Just happened to notice that 60% the Gophers are Freshmen or Redshirt Freshman. I wonder how that compares to other D1 schools.

On the plus side, there should have a lot of kids to follow in Brookings a week from Sunday.

I would say thats high, but not common every year. Last year we graduated 5 Starters and a few backups. Figure if hypothetically every class was 20% then
Redshirt, plus true freshmen would be 40% anyway. With small rosters it wouldnt be too hard to bump up to 60% in a case where you lost a big class to graduation...

Is a cycle created though that we will always have top heavy classes every 5 years and not balance throughout those years? Just a question I raise.

Well part of that is we started Logan as a true freshman so it would be one less starter gone had he redshirted, dropping it to only losing four starters not 5..

I would guess this is typical. Kids drop out, quit wrestling. J doesn't cut anyone, ever, but as he says "these things usually sort themselves out"

I do not think Johnny Blankenship is going to prevent Mark Hall from making the starting lineup at Nebraska.

Retention makes recruiting.easier. if you are able to retain wrestlers and help build and mold.them into contenders other recruits will want to join. The gophers have done a very good job at retaining and.building.
Also for those of you who say we lose to many in state blue chillers I say b.s.!!!! These kids are making life decisions not just wrestling decisions...

Getting a new wrestling facility will be nice. Ours is the worst in the Big Ten. Not that facilities are the only reason kids choose a place, but it factors in.

Are we getting one? I didn't think that the new athletic village had wrestling facilities.

Once bball has their new facility... We will get the room where they hold the coaches clinic... It's a basketball gym that will be renovated into a new wrestling room... I think it will be a great space. probably still 4 years out.
