So, Berge has been a lifelong Hawkeye fan correct? So if MN doesn't get him, is it bad recruiting (such as the clowns say about not getting Hall)? Such a nice spot for him at 74.
When you lose your state's top prospects, that is a problem. Looking at last five years top 30:

#1 Mark Hall
#12 Griffin Parriot...................Got #21 Mitch McKee
#27 Keegan Moore

#10 Lance Benick....................Got #12 Bobby Steveson

#12 Sam Stoll..........................Got #29 Tommy Thorn

#18 Jake Short.........................Got
#23 Nick Wanzek.......................Got

#22 Michael Kroells.....................Got

#2 Destin McCauley
#20 Donny Longendyke

#15 Dylan Ness............................Got

So I like who we got, but I don't like losing any top prospects to other teams.

I have been to all the home meets for a number of years. I also see others and keep track of this stuff to a degree….. How many falls did BK have in the Big Ten season? (to be clear, I am a fan of BK, just looking for clarification here)
I did not see millions of falls from BK.

The apologists are already coming up with excuses for why the Gophers missed another top recruit before he has even committed. :-/

If we get Gable and RBY, and can also add Alex Lloyd and P McKee, I think we have a #1 ranked recruiting class!

I think we have a much better chance at landing Brady Berge than some of you are stating. The Gopher roster is shaping up for him to fit very nicely from his freshman year on. Also when many of you are speculating Iowa as Berge's destination you need to keep in mind they have loaded up this year and with guys from 157-174. They have Kemmerer, Young and Marinelli. All will be just 1 year ahead of Brady. Next year they already have Troy coming in as well. Not that Brady is scared of competition, but I look at it more from an Iowa roster stand point and how could they afford another scholarship within those weights. Maybe they already know that he will not sign with them. Now also add in the fact that they just landed 2 of the best light weights in the country this year, I don't see where they get the money.

Half of those guys aren't even on the roster or committed yet and people are already trying to project them into the lineup. Gotta love Mid May discussion.

That would definitely be a championship caliber team. Of course we're only speculating here, but it is May, and it wouldn't seem too outrageous that we did land those additional recruits.

NCAA has also changed admission a little. A recruit can now join a college, without meeting academic criteria. My understanding is they are academically ineligible until they get their college GPA past a certain point. Obviously the school would still have to grant acceptance to the kid, but it does potentially eliminate a barrier. Unless I am misunderstanding the change.

My advice to kids, hits the books just as hard as the weights.

Unforgunately to many kids find out the hard way that their wrestling skills alone wont get them into a college wrestling room.

Is there a reason McKee is not listed as on the Gopher roster on certain sites like wrestle stats? I thought I failed to see him somewhere else too. They did have other 16-17 freshman listed.

Not to mention what happened with his brother Broc, it might not have a huge influence on Brady's decision but you have to think it will be a factor.

I don't think many know "what happened with Broc". I certainly don't, and I'm not speculating, but the guy could have a million different reasons for leaving Iowa, that aren't of the "bad taste in the mouth" variety.

That being said, IA has a lot of money tied up in those weights. It doesn't take them out of contention, but makes it harder to envision.

After watching BTS it is mandatory that McKee start next year as a true freshmen. Only reason not to is if McKee wants a red shirt year in order to acclimate himself to college. There is nobody on the Gopher's roster that could beat him out of a starting job.

I disagree. He is the best wrestler on the team at that weight though. I'd rather he be around another year when the team is actually competing for Championships.
