What 2017 Minnesota Graduates are the gophers pursuing? Obviously Berge, but who else are they looking at - seem to have filled quite a few needs in the last year.

McKee and Fix seem to be friends. One can hope for a steal out of Oklahoma :D :D
I had the same hope with Mark being good friends with Bobby and Gable...but unfortunately it didn't matter.
Mark made his decision on 11/11/15.

Every other potential recruit, since that November day, has had someone smear Mark Hall's name on their thread, with their version of Chicken Little. Give it a rest, please. -_-
Where did I smear his name? Stop being an idiot.

Anyone know Manville or anyone close to him?

After the trials this weekend...pretty amazing what PSU has coming up the next few years.

16/17
157-Nolf-So.
165-Joseph-RFr.
174-Nickal-So.
184-McCrutcheon-Jr.

17/18
157-Nolf-Jr.
165-Joseph-So.
174-Hall-Fr.
184-Nickal-Jr.
197-McCrutcheon-Sr.

Maybe after that year if Nickal goes up after McCrutcheon graduates, but I don't see Manville getting more than 2 years of starting varsity action....My prediction, by the end of his Redshirt FR. year, I predicts he transfers.

Interview with Warner. Still considering MN but feels like a stretch. This interview to me implies he is going to Iowa.

How would you describe your style of wrestling

Always looking to score points. I am not a big fan of low scoring matches. I like to go out there and rack up as many points as I can. Those are the best matches when you can go out there and score and score and score. Having an attacking mindset.

When that is his answer to that question, then you need him to stay away from Brandon Eggum and his penchant for turning high scoring, exciting wrestlers into 3-2 clones of himself...(a la Schlatter, Storley).

I'd love to have him, but I'm sure Steveson will go up after this year to 195, so if the rumors are true that Webster might not make it academically into the U...then we will need a 184lber.

Now just need to find some new coaches...

I'm sure Grappler6 will come on here and make a smartass comment and he probably also thinks Terry Ryan should keep his job after this year.
Eggum turns exciting wrestlers into low scoring wrestlers? How? I'd like to know what evidence you have of this. Can you give specific examples of how Brandon does this? Have you heard him say certain things to the wrestlers that would make you think he promotes low scoring matches? Why do you not mention Becker? I feel like Brandon has helped develop quite a few athletes who can score points,Pfarr being the most recent. You are reaching.

worded that wrong... I didn't mean you were smearing Mark Hall.

I was pointing out that every time we speak of a big time recruit, certain idiots must remind us that we lost Mark Hall. We know, we know!

Dusty, Macho asked for you to explain your reasoning as to why you blame Eggum and solely Eggum? You love to bash the guy so you must have a lot of supporting evidence for your claim. Or is it solely due to you remember Brandon wrestling close matches? A claim refuted by a previous poster. Citing only a few 3-2 matches. I am not the one to analyze Eggum's wrestling as I was 11 at the time.

Keep your head in the sand and drinking your Eggum Haterade.

This is getting old. I have watched college wrestling longer then most of you guys posting. EVERY wrestler at some point has wrestled close matches. Coaches always want guys to pull the trigger, but the coaches don't wrestle the matches. The goal is to win matches period. 1 point or 15 points a win is a win. As fans we want to see alot of points scored, but both guys are trying to win the match. Minnesota's staff is as good or better then 90% of the coaching staffs that are out there. If you can name 10 better feel free to post them. Now we are suppose to be talking about recuits not bitchin about what the coaches need to do. I think Berge is coming here just my feeling.

OK, likewise I've watched the gophers for many years and rassled against them long age. I have no desire to bash the Gopher coaching staff. As a competitor I think I was very blessed to receive coaching from a wide variety of guys from all over the country and all over the world. The Gopher coaching staff would probably be enhanced by bringing in people from outside the Gopher way. More to the point: I don't think that Eggum, or any Gopher coaches intend to teach a conservative, low scoring style.

However, I do think that over the past 20+ years the coaching staff has really emphasized maintaining good position. To a fault. If the concern is always staying in good position I think that the opportunities for scoring are greatly reduced. Scrambles and opportunities are created by movement and creating angles. Obsessing about always being in position reduces scoring opportunities. My 2 cents

Manville has jumped from place to place. I don't get the sense of loyalty or team first guy. I am fine with him competing elsewhere.

Could be nice.

However, he has repeatedly said he will not decommitt/transfer from PSU. Sites people saying he would never start at AV, Never Start at Blair, etc. plans to prove many wrong.

His word regarding committing/not transferring doesn't really mean much. Reality is, barring injury or something unforeseen, he's not likely to start until he's a JR. Also, who in the world said he wouldn't start at AV or Blair?

J get's fired, steps down or retires.
Eggum get's promoted.....
Some of the fab freshman are involved and they transfer out.
Gable & RBY don't come here.
Berge goes to Iowa.

Really puts a damper on the heat of the recruiting season and official visits that are starting to be arranged right now. Has to be tuff for a kid to see what is going on - wondering who may or may not even be on the team - and also - who will the head coach be? If I was a new recruit - I would be very skeptical right now, and would not blame others for being right now.

I hate to tell you, but your boys will be exposed to many illegal and dangerous substances no matter where they go to school. The question is how would you want the coach to handle the situation if it was your son.

a. turn them over to the police at the first indication of trouble, even if it isn't true.
b. do what J did and try and intervene.
c. turn a blind eye and claim ignorance if there is a bust or overdose.

Unfortunately there is not a perfect answer.
