I know out of bounds are called quicker in hs then college, but if that isn't a td it at least should have been a flee call.

Sounds like Early had a takedown late but was not given the points.

Must be different rules there or the clock had expired and the ref had a delayed call.
About :25 left on the clock.

I don't understand how that isn't 2. PBS, did they provide an explanation to the coach afterwards why they said they were out? Looked like there were at least 3 points in to me

Ref said they were out of bounds. Officials were not kind to OPRF this weekend. Several WTF calls/non calls cost the kids a couple titles and 1 kid a spot on the podium.

I don't get that call, both of his feet were clearly in and it was not even that close in my opinion. That was a @#$% call!

Watching all the new recruits develop at Minny will be fun for years to come. I don't ever remember as large a recruiting class as this years.

This was called a TD in a state title match to keep another OPRF wrestler from winning a title as a senior.

In a positive, LEIII wrestled the entire match and kept after it! That goes a long ways in the MN program.

I don't recall or know the rules on this one, but do you have to be in control to get back points? To me, the wrestler in Grey was on his back, neither wrestler had control but it was an easy 2 count?

You have to be in the offensive position. You can get a defensive pin but not defensive NF

Both are tough losses. But an awefully quick whistle on the out-of-bounds in Earlys match. The other guy had hip control and a single, thats more clear cut. The oprf kid should have tried to turn away and kick out and bailed sooner from the crotch lock.

The LE3 call was horrible. Ref blew the whistle way too quick.

The Madrigal call wasn't two yet but it was probably going to be in a few seconds. Split the legs but was only controlling one leg. Still bad call.

Sorry your season had to end on such a bad note PBS. Hopefully LE3 can get healthy and be back on top of the podium in a couple years.

Yates came out of no where. I was hoping he was highly rated. He beat Mitch McKee 3-1 at the Clash. I was surprised at the time, but not any longer. No shame in losing to a good opponent.

Good article on Mark Hall as Minnesota wrestler of the year. Wants to make his college choice by December 1 next year. They listed four colleges: Minnesota, Ok. St., Ohio St., and Wisconsin. Hoping his buddies convince him to go with the best and become a gopher!

Stroker not only wins third Iowa 3A championship, but scores the fall by cradle in a mere 43 seconds. I can't wait for steady Fredy to begin building his Gopher legacy!

They listed him having 4 of his 5 allowed official visits scheduled. He could still be considering more schools.

this is just speculation but Iowa over the last 3 years hasnt really picked up a replacement for moore at 165. They have some good 157ers, and some above average 165ers in the room but nothing really in the ncaa qualifier area more like in the 33-50 ranking range. Meyer is their best 174 option to replace evans so he cant wrestle 165. Its almost like they are keeping a spot open for Hall.

i watched this film many times, and I have no doubt that he had a takedown. (From the angle I watched and I wasn't on the mat - the officials had an even better view and a feel for control). When he rolled him up on his back (a practiced technique in a crackdown situation to secure a fall or the takedown). He adjusted his position, controlled the arm into a modified 'peterson roll' position. We teach this as well. The takedown could have been awarded at this point. Once they moved out of this position and back to the 'crack down' position, he was over the legs, kept control of the hand, controlled the hips (whether two legs or one - irrelevant - the hips were controlled) and his hips were in a position where the defensive wrestler was left with no counter to the takedown position. Control was clearly established. (IMO of course - had I been a coach on the side line, I may have felt differently, haha)

They have Myers(the guy that wrestled Mikilus and has beaten 2 ranked guys this year) for two more years at 174. They also have junior stud recruit Marrinelli who projects as 165/174.

The Iowa roster is unusual in that it lists the wrestlers heights but not their weight class. You have to go to a wrestler's bio to see his expected weight class. Burke Paddocke (2x NY) is the front runner being groomed for 165 according to Iowa fans.

Gophers need Mark Hall. We will have a fantastic group with McKee Stroker Early Hall Steveson and whomever else we can get in the next couple years. None of us know what he is truly thinking but if he wants to wrestle for the gophs theres a spot available his True Frosh year.
