No idea. Is he still wrestling at 113? He's going to need to bulk up if he want's to wrestle in college.

Seems to me that Cashman could be the perfect size for 125 by time he gets to college. I would think he will be a big 120 lber or avg sized 126 lber as a senior in hs- give him a year as a red shirt and he should be a good sized 125 lber.

Also, I see Pat McKee as a potential career 133 lber, so it would be great if we could add Cashman to next year's recruiting class. A future lineup that starts with Cashman, McKee, McKee (and hopefully ends Steveson/Kerkvliet, Steveson) would be pretty exciting.

I'd rather have him at 113 now because then he is likely a career 125 pounder. He'll be at least 120 as a senior and there are tons of very good 125 pounders in college that wrestle 120 as a senior. It's the 106 seniors that are a problem and he is well past that.

With it being late in the recruiting "season" for the class of 2017, and with the addition of some more money for next season due to some recent events and some spots opening up in our lineup. Think it'd be good for Eggum and Co. to go after some JUCO guys that might be able to help the team in the short term (17/18 and 18/19) while 2018 recruits are still in HS and redshirting.

Checking out some spots:

184/197--B.Steveson seems to be better built for 184 for the moment, and there might be a good time to stay down for 1 more year.

At 197--Dymere Rappa from Camden (PA) is the returning champ, is ranked #1 and obviously is a Soph...don't know if he signed with anyone...
Ranked #2--with MN ties. Christian DuLaney--took 3rd last year, very athletic. Might be a CPfarr type--was fun to watch at state a couple years ago. Might be worth taking a flyer on either or both of those guys to hold down the weight till Kerk gets there. Heck get both.

Don't know where else you'd want to put some money....I think it'd be good to try to get Lloyd to change his commitment to MN before signing next year. He's not super tall, could be a 4 year 149lber otherwise you almost have to think about bulking Thorn and McKee up for their Sr/Jr. years to 149/141 when someone like Jones (assuming he grows into and develops into a possible 133lbs. starter in 2 years).

17/18--
125-Lizak-Jr.
133-McKee-So.
141-Thorn-Jr.
149-Brolsma-So.
157-Short-Sr.
165-Wanzek-Sr.
174-CPfarr-Sr.
184-Steveson-So.
197-Balow-Jr. or transfer?
Hwt-Streifel-So.
(Jones, Crowe, Bergeland redshirting--think you need to get more in this recruiting class if possible the 152-170lbs weight classes)

18/19
125-Lizak-Sr.
133-Jones-RFr.
141-Thorn-Sr.
149-Bergeland-RFr. or someone else?
157-Brolsma-Jr.
165-Wright-Sr?
174-Krone-Sr.?
184-Steveson-Jr?
197-Steveson-Jr? or a transfer that is a Sr.?
Hwt-Streifel-Jr.
(Pat--133 and M. McKee--141 or 149 redshirting--maybe Gable--Hwt too--need to get more in this class,,Cashman--125?, Lloyd--149--maybe the two Pipestone lightweights (125-141?? Jake Gliva-141, Eischens-141/49)....

Peyton Robb from Owatonna at 149 - not sure if he's committed... He's beat Lloyd and has a motor that doesn't quit, I would focus on him over trying to flip Lloyd, personal opinion...
Also look at Eischens from Anoka this kid wants to be a Gopher and already knocked off Gomez this year...

Thanks for the info! I'd try to flip one or the other then unless you have an outstate recruit for that weight!

Twisted, I did mention Eischens. Think him and Bergeland are both at 138 this year. One or both could develop into 149lbers down the road. We could use more depth there...would be nice to get some more people. If Crowe is at 145/52 this year, my guess is he will bulk up and be a 157lber in college--which still doesn't get us anybody for 165 in 2 years....Krone is around for 174 as a Sr. but it remains to be seen what he can do and how much he improved after his suspension.

Yeah I seen that at the very end... 165 outside of providing some depth I think this is where the Gophers need to look outstate, National Level wise this looks like an Ohio - New Jersey talent pool for this weight class...

I have no idea if the Gophers would be on his radar, but Anthony Artalona was one of the most impressive wrestlers I saw last summer. He probably fit around that weight.

PSU already has a log jam from 157 to 184 for the next at least 4 years so we have that going for us when recruiting that area :-)

We have competition at 149 right now. Jose Champaign just won his first tournament he entered for the gophers. He is a redshirt freshmen that has been injured and in his first action back beat Colton Carlson 8-4. That isn't like being a top ten in the nation but Carlson was good at state, some on here wanted him at the U, and Jose won after sitting out with an injury for quite a while. I think we have someone for our line up next year.

Why would Lloyd want to change his mind?? Look at the programs and the direction each one is heading. From a fans standpoint it's fairly clear he made the right decision as well as Robb and Molitor. They are on the way up and the U is working out some issues. I say this a fan of both programs. No one can deny what Bono has done and continues to do!! They have two other recruits from Missouri that they are very high on. Keep your ears open as they will be adding a likely three time state finalist to that squad. Premature saying finalist as he was runner up last year but don't see anyone taking him out the next 2 yrs at state. SDSU keeps picking kids out of our backyard and they are rolling in it!

Pipestone kids were state champs last year, not runner ups. So guessing swamp isn't referring to them.
