Hilday's brother is at NC St.---would be shocked if he didn't follow. Seems like brothers do that a lot.
True. However, NCST has a lot of talent at 165-174. So maybe he looks elsewhere
Good wrestler but is more of a bull than a technician. Allar has beaten him the last 3 meetings with the last being by pin.
Well that settles it, Allar decommits from ISU and commits to the gophers!!
I think I saw the Allarmobile driving toward Boilerland last time I was there - but do not quote me - they were on the otherside of the freeway. LOL

Does anyone know if Jared Verkleeren ever had the Gophers high on his list? Him and Allar are good buddies both committed to ISU.. maybe Allar can bring him with..
Allar did just tweet the other day.. "I love Minnesota" he could be talking about the weather but either way he loves Minnesota. I would never wish bad for a program but if the ISU chaos continues I know the Gophers would welcome these 2 and help them achieve their goals.

Here comes the problem for SDSU. IF, and it's a big IF, Iowa State is interested in Bono, and if Bono is interested in Iowa State (which I think he would be), I think Bono has a huge leg up on the competition by being able to bring Reader with him as an assistant.

Gomez looking to get out of his NLI from ISU. I imagine he'll give MN some consideration.

Was thinking the same thing and they can still room together as originally planned. This would be a welcomed use of the scholly money freed up by jettisoning Stroker and Early.

Hypothetical team..
19/20
125 Cashman rFr
133 P. McKee rFr
141 M. McKee rJr
149 Eischens rFr
157 Lloyd rFr
165 Allar rSo
174 (paging transfer from Penn State log jam)
184 Webster rJr
197 B. Steveson rSr
285 G. Steveson rFr

20/21
125 Cashman rSo
133 P. McKee rSo
141 M. McKee rSr
149 Eischens rSo
157 Lloyd rSo
165 Allar rJr
174 (see above)
184 Webster rSr
197 Kerkvliet Fr
285 Steveson rSo

I say if they use the redshirts accordingly then the Gophers have a nice window of opportunity to win it all.
Wow, you don't get out of Minnesota much do you?
Very foolish to think you are going to win a big ten or national title with 10 Minnesota kids.
I'm curious, what would the lineup look like if MN kept all the top recruits during the last 5 years? Isn't the current team almost all MN? What if Seth Gross, Mark Hall, etc were added? I know it's a pipe dream to keep all MN kids, but just hypothetical. Lots of tough MN wrestlers!

149 Berge
157 Allar or Parriot
165 Hall

184 Steveson Edit Venz
197 Kerkvliet
HVY Gable

Probably need medical redshirt somewhere to get them all to wrestle on the same team :D

Exactly! And I'm even thinking this year/next year. Thorn, Pfarr, etc. Again, hypothetical to keep them all in MN, but I think there is enough talent in the state to build a top D1 team.

So does that mean he's reopening his looking at schools? 👍 If not Hilday would be a better recruit than the nothing they have at that weight now.

They definitely need more 157-174lbers in this and next years class.

Jared V. could pick his weight and not be afraid of bulking into 157. Allar could be a 165lber and Hilday if they went after him and got could bulk him up to 174....plus, being that his brother is at NC St. and surrounded by studs in that lineup, he'd be a 4 year starter probably and avoid sitting on a bench and would be in a conference that is away from the ACC.

Gomez (and maybe Eischens later)...could go for the 141 and 149 spots.

Jones is a likely starter at 133 in two years. Bergeland has potential in that 141/149 range and I've heard Crowe is around 152/160--so maybe a 157 in college. Calvin G-N is probably a 157/165lber too...

Would be nice to get all of them or at least some. Don't know how forgiving ISU will be about letting 3 studs out of their NLI.

So how does that work? If Iowa State does not release him. What happens if Allar leaves? Does he have to sit out a year? Lose a year of eligibility?

Also if Bono leaves I could see SDSU trying to keep Reader behind.

Gable and Kerkvleit will be #1 overall in there classes. Kerkvleit will be close to #1 if not. Little Manville is also already rated #1 in his class.

I think, per intermat, Eichens is the top ranked junior in his weight class.

Carr would be an unbelievable pick up, but I haven't seen anything linking him to Minnesota.

I truly think they're a package. I also don't think SDSU would consider making Reader the head coach at this point. He doesn't have the experience level yet. If Bono goes, Reader (and likely Schopp) go with him.
