Gomez is a good kid & great family -- wish him the best!!!
Allar Great Young Man & Super pumped to see him stay home with his "family"!!! With Thorn, McKee x2 & Allar STMA fuels or fills many spots on the team..... all top 5 guys coming out of MN. Hummmm did I say all top 5 recruits... not bad for "just MN" kids you nay Sayers

----- also might I add, when Webster comes next year & you Add Marko in the lineup all these guys are Pinnacle prodigies.... Lawrence & Paulson's efforts are shining bright!
Has anybody actually said that Allar is going to be a Gopher now or is this just speculation? I wasn't aware that he had even been granted a release from his commitment yet.
Release has happened
Then when is the commitment to the U coming?
If Bono is getting the best from Minnesota, expect him to land an instate recruit

Some JUCO AA's with MN ties:

133-George Farmah--took 3rd.
141-Austin Anderly-took 5th--wasn't he a 2x state champ a couple years ago that took on another multi-state champ?
149-Colton L. took 6th
157-Dayton Racer took 1st....
197-C. Dulaney took 2nd--got pinned in the last 20 seconds.

Don't know how many are Sophs. or if the U would want any to help compete for spots where we are not deep (like 197)...but it is a start.

gophers should keep an eye on freshman (2017) hwt from chamberlain SD, 44-0, beat the defending state champ last night...ooofta
I just looked into Nash Hutmacher a little bit. He seems to be one of those once in a life time athletes. He's also a very talented thrower and football player (I think that he was varsity in both as an eighth grader). At this pace, he'll probably be a 4X champ 5X placer and 6X qualifier without ever wrestling a match outside of the heavyweight division. If he chooses to wrestle in college, he's going to be very very good. Perhaps even Stevesonesque.

True freshman. I think he places 5th as an eight grader and qualified as a 7th grader.

Dulaney committed to some school I'm not familiar with. Racer is a sophomore, won 14-0 last night. Not sure where he's thinking.

Man I was just about to make a comment about how I am tired of people playing with my emotions and acting like they have inside scoops on these guys (Steveson and Allar for example) and talking as if they know for sure that they are going to be Gophers. Then this happens.

Sean Deshazer won JUCO at 133. His brother trains freestyle with MN Storm. Was a three time D2 champ for UNK.

So Owen Webster is really working out for Augsburg, if he had come to Minnesota he would probably be our best recruit this year. There have been rumblings about him coming to Minnesota. Do we know if this is going to happen? Lucas Jeske would also be good to have.

As an Auggie alum, I would love it if he stays and becomes a larger version of Marcus (granted he has 1 loss this year to a D2 guy), but it's not my decision. Hope if he does, he takes a Redshirt and develops into a solid D1 starter or better. I just hope if he moves up to D1 he can be a starter that has a 24-30 wins/year seasons...if he's a .500 or worse wrestler as a starter then it probably wouldn't be worth moving up.

As for Jeske, as good as he is....I don't think he'd be a D1 starter. We have Wanzek at 165 probably next year, and probably Allar after that. He has struggled at times this year---granted he's a freshman but he has 7 losses I think and some have been falls--even to D3 guys if I remember right. I'm hopeful he will place in a couple weeks at NCAA's as I think it'd take Owen and Donny winning it, 8 AA's and probably a few of the other guys placing well above any seed they have in order to overcome 10 NQ for Wartburg.

Nash is a stud. I currently live in SD and was able to watch him this year. He was qualifier as a seventh grader and placed fifth as an eighth grader (Lost to the kid who got second and third) and of course won it this year. He is very good wrestler. The only issue I see with him is making weight. As a freshman he is a full 280. Might be the same situation Spencer Sorenson was in. I am excited to see what he does in the next few years.

I saw Luke Becker watching the 2AAA sections this weekend. I got to chat with him and Streiffel's dad for a few minutes. LB said he was there to watch Brent Jones and a few others. I would imagine Gabel too.

Later I talked with Gabel's brother Bobby. I hope my instincts are good, I am getting a better vibe about a possible Gopher uniform on him. I did hear rumblings of an announcement after he is crowned as the AAA HWT. Champion. I don't think there is any question of that last part. I think we can at least take that to the bank.

Storley was what, 174 - 0 when he got pinned in HS ? Things happen. Albeit very unlikely.

I would say there is nobody in MN at HWT at the same level of Lehman.

No, he lost once as a 7th grader and once as an 8th grader.

Although that may have been his record as a high schooler.

I was actually at that match. If I remember correctly Storley was winning pretty handily and got caught in a cement mixer. That gym was nuts.

How Storley reacted when that happened told me alot about him. He just shook hands and walked off. Preston Lehman was who caught him.

15-2 before Lehman hit the mixer. The guy recording said "tech fall coming up" a few seconds before it happened.
