Who is the best duo at 197 and Hvy on the same team ever?

Gophers have a good thing going. Just need a few more killers to fill out the roster with Gable and Kerkvliet.

Let's hope Verkleeren is GopherTough and maybe even RBY. That would be a great start.
sorry to burst your Bubble but RBY just posted on Twitter the other day that he cant wait to be at PSU.

https://twitter.com/RomanBravoYoung

doesnt look like he is going to go anywhere at least according to his Twitter Feed. :( was really hoping we could land him and Gable yet but doesnt look good.

now keep hope for Verkleeren.
Bubble burst....damn

I think Berge will have a better college career than Manville. I just think 149 is a mistake for him.
I agree with MN Rodent on Berge. Manville is a question mark! Verkleeren had a great visit at the U of MN. The only reason he hasn't signed with the Gophers was the offer. While very good was not as much as some other offers...ISU, Missouri and NC State. The Gophers are bringing in some great recruits and have to spread the money around. Not an easy job to do. We are doing our part to help persuade him and his parents that He will do well and feel at home here in Minnesota. He is at tOSU this weekend. He had a short visit at PSU this last Monday. PSU is 2 hours from home and tOSU is 3 hours. Big factors related to parents seeing him wrestle as opposed to flying here.
I'm biased, but I think the U is the best for Verk. He should get an opportunity to earn a spot, early in his career.

PSU is three deep at most weights. I'd be surprised if he joined that stock pile.

tOSU worries me. 3 hours from home.

I say we all offer Verk's family a place to stay during home meets. I'll offer my basement to them for the first weekend, his freshmen year.

Who's next to host the family?

Weird the gophers are running out of scholly money for Verk but PSU just keeps adding studs.
I'm pretty sure that people are taking a lot less to go to PSU. I'm more surprised that we have so little money available. We graduated Kroells, Pfarr, Kingsley, Brancale, and Morgan all of whom had to have been on scholarships and the only recruits who may have gotten significant scholarships were Allar and Jones. I'm sure the others are getting something, but we should still have a fair amount left for a blue chipper like Verk.
In years past most seniors had given up the scholarships they were receiving to help with recruiting. Supplemented by training camps and what not. Most likely the same situation.

Patrick McKee is not anywhere near ready for Big Ten wrestling at 125.

The coaches would be wise to bring in another top recruit to compete at 125.

He is a junior in High School..... Give him another year plus a redshirt year.

I can't imagine the Gophers will put all their eggs in one basket.

Wow. Where did all the hate come from? Assuming he must have wrestled this weekend and didn't do as expected?

Goodness, it's like a kid can never get better in college.

Didn't he just place third at juniors in greco losing to the guy who took first. I can see why you think he is terrible.

Good thing he won't be wrestling 125 for the gophers for another 2.5 years. Plenty of time to develope.

Him or Berge will be.....

Only one can replace Zain in 2 years. Nolf will have the other sitting behind him their RS FR. year...and who knows if Manville is around if he goes 157 too in two years after redshirting with these guys. (Maybe he grew and plans to sit for 2 years behind Joseph).

I was never sold on him really. I just don't think he'll be that great in college.

Berge and Hall are the ones that burn. We absolutely have to keep our top in state guys to compete for championships.

These guys must not want to wrestle all 4 years but it's a good problem for Cael to have. Injuries happen. Legitimate AA backups are great!

No one can out recruit Cael. There can't be that much scholly money free.

When people start putting these guys in the gopher lineup before they commit the disappointments are bigger. At least wait till they verbal!!!

I can get over that he didn't come to MN. I won't lose sleep. I am more annoyed that kids keep going to PSU and would like to know why. I know they right now have the best in the room and the best practice partners, but with all these talented guys, I don't think you could convince me that the ones that won't be able to start love being a practice partner.

Agree... not sure how many more they can fit in the room to be practice partners and get assistance (scholarship funds) it is just crazy! next 2 years for MN recruiting is crucial to developing a team that can be a top 3 team again.

I wonder what place the PSU reserves would finish in the NCAA championships. I think top ten for sure and challenge for top five.

Currently I would say no, but what they have coming in I would think they would.

I would love to know how much each kid at every college gets in terms of $, 9.9 can only be divided so many ways.

In a sport where there is not a ton of money to be made, I can not wrap my head around all these kids going to PSU. Is being 50/50 shot at starting at PSU better than being a almost guarnteed 3-4 year starter at any Big 10 school?

I just look at QBs in College football once many of them get beat out by someone in their same class or younger class, they imeditaly look around to see if there are places they can go in and start, why is this not the case in Wrestling?
