There are quite a few wrestlers that have trained in America over the past few years competing for other countries. FRL had a good segment on 'em the other day, and I don't think that's all of them, either. Cool to see them get that opportunity. |

Track wrestling also tries to match up wrestlers and profiles based on names... I think there is a second grader from Nebraska wrestling right now... |

Smith loses to Lopez from CUB, wrestles for bronze against the Russian. Mango has to win 2 more repechage to get bronze bout. Has Belarus soon. Martinez dropped his repechage bout. Lester lost (what looks like a slug-fest) 10-9 to be eliminated. |

Mango drops the match to Belarus 8-0 (big 4pt throw, correct throw from lift, and takedown on the edge). He is eliminated. I don't know if I've ever seen him get high-dived like that. Normally, he's doing the high-diving. Tough breaks. Medal Round begins at 8:30. |

Robbie Smith left his heart on the mat in the Bronze medal match! He is vying for my top spot for greco guys to watch! Tough to beat Bisek though. Has been very fun to watch all the greco. Lots of action Refs sometimes insert themselves too much though. |

Robbie's match was the most exciting Greco match I've ever watch (I watch mostly folkstyle though). There were more throws & big moves in that match than most all the other medal matches. The Russian was mentally & physically beat and stalled his life off. |

United World Wrestling has done an outstanding job this year with their coverages of Cadet/Junior/Senior World Championships. All matches are archived almost immediately!! Here is the link for Robbie Smiths match. You don't see Heavyweights put up that many points in a match very often! https://unitedworldwrestling.org/match?options[nodeId]=1124&options[arenaId]=d99c25c5-55c8-11e5-a1ef-0800275a62ce |

The UWW coverage is excellent, the wrestling has been excellent, I like where the rules are right now for GR. This is exactly what it needed, free coverage of all the rounds, so we can see more of the early rounds and more big throws. Yesterday was one of my favorite days of watching wrestling online. Cant wait till we start again today |

I completely agree. Also, though, I have seen this all the way down to the local level. I mean, at least it's uniform and everyone is being educated to do it similarly. There have been a lot of awesome matches and action. |

At the local level, (Mn/usa) it is my opinion that this is what the expectation is-let the wrestlers decide the match, but they are expected to not allow finger-grabbing, etc so they are supposed to actively i.e., verbally keep things going. As far as picking which guy goes down, when theres no scoring ? I think they get that right, most of the time. I think the same is true of the matches I've watched these past few days, and the officiating I've seen-its been pretty darn good, The UWW refs are expected to be very aggressive in the way they "control" the match-I dont mean control as in, deciding who wins-I mean if you want to be the guy on the mat for Olympics, Worlds, etc or any of the big tournaments ? You'd better be slapping hands, agrressively demanding they have their head up, and just be very forthright and confident with your officiating. Otherwise, you'll be watching from the sidelines. Randy Couture-wow, what a great addition. No offense to Rulon, but Couture is THE best commentator for Greco I think I've listened to (well, AFTER Jason Bryant,,of course ) he doesnt get overly excited and start yelling (Bader) and he doesnt constantly repeat redundant statements (Rulon). I am really enjoying listening to his work. Kudos to whoever set that up. Edited by Tiny Tornado, Sep 9 2015, 03:46 PM.

TT, I know the refs are taught to be commanding in order to keep the action flowing. I meant that as less of a knock, and more of a compliment to the consistency. I am, however, of the opinion that passivity calls need to be addressed. I like that they exist. I like that people are calling them. I just don't quite agree with the "if you warn red, you have to look for blue to be passive, next" type of stuff. Especially in Greco, where passivity can sometimes be hard to decipher (with it being a chess-match). It wasn't an insult, but a preference, I guess. |

Metcalf TF his guy (11-0. All TD's and one leg tie). Next, he wrestles unranked Chinese who beat up on the Turk who knocked him out of the tourney last year. No women wrestled yet. Ragan is on deck. Abbat and Gomez wrestling for other countries lost in the qual. round Edited by BoogieChillen, Sep 10 2015, 11:39 AM.

Metcalf looked very good. The Turk was ranked 6th. If Metcalf wins that match he will likely face #1 ranked Sayed Ahmad MOHAMMADI a 2014 world silver medalist. Then probably Haslan Garcia of Canada who hes wrestled numerous times. |

I thought Gomez wasn't wrestling this year. He wasn't on PR's list, at least. Weird. Thanks for the update. School doesn't allow Twitter, and the bracket page is sort of slow. |
