Ragan down 2-0, puts the pressure on and gets 2 exposure with 15 left to pull ahead 3-2. Holds off and wins. Crowd is very loud! |

I didn't know this was on Track. It's awesome, if you want live results without the video. Former UW-LaCrosse wrestler Bebeto Yewah lost in the round of 32 to Mongolia. He is representing Cameroon. |

Metcalf pounds so hard on his opponents that don't have anything left to keep him in the wrestleback. |

The "repechage" is the worst wrestleback system I have ever seen. The MSHSL state tournament wrestleback system is not good, but the "repechage" is about 1000x worse. I don't know how the rest of the world views it, but I feel most American wrestling fans see it as a turn off. |

Don't quote me on any of this, but from reading other boards and talking to people smarter than I, I have gotten this impression: The goal of the World Championships is to determine the best wrestler in the World. While 4 get medals, the important one that dictates the tournament is Gold. The idea behind the repechage and blind draw is to give more countries an opportunity to medal. If it were a true wrestleback system, it would: 1. Take a lot longer, and the Olympics wants 1-day full tournaments. and 2. Often consist of the same few countries winning most medals. Most countries base their funding off of medals produced. If lower-tier countries have little to no shot at winning, and often don't produce, they may stop sending entrants or funding them. Other countries don't have folkstyle. So, if they don't have the Olympics to look up to/train for, why would they keep wrestling? From what I've gathered, it's to help continue wrestling growth throughout the world. Is it the best way to find out who the best 3 wrestlers are? Perhaps not perfectly. But it does help grow the sport, according to people that seem more knowledgeable. |

Anyone else think the US style is getting too boring? It seems like they are getting outshot in lots of matches. Especially Metcalf, Humphrey, and Herbert. I thought the US used to be more aggressive, not from what I have seen so far. Also, after watching hours of Greco and hours of Freestyle, I prefer Greco! Less stalling from my viewpoint. For example, Metcalf and Humphrey stalled a ton in their matches after they had a lead. |

I didn't watch the entire tournament, but the Russians seemed to get really tired from the matches I saw. Especially that guy Robby Smith wrestled. |

Getting out of bed early will get easier as you age. Wrestling someone like Snyder will not :D |
