It has just come to my attention that there is apparently whats called a "sibling rivalry rule"-
So I'm just wondering, where it is printed, because I'd like to read it. I am going to make some "assumptions", that it only applies to certain age groups, i.e., NOT the University or Senior levels....but does it affect the Cadet or Junior level ? With Fargo coming up, it made me wonder-what would happen if two brothers or sisters were to meet in a final at USA Nationals ? Is it only a CHOICE, to be Co-Champions, or can they wrestle if they choose to ?

Just wondering how many have been effected by this rule, and people's thoughts on this.
Personally-I'm against it, and was shocked to see comments made by Mrs Harbaugh, mother to the two NFL coaches, who coached against each other. She wondered if the NFL couldnt just let them be Co-Champions. She said her "Mom" feelings took over"....I understand the "mom" feelings, for maybe a peewee...but as grown men, with the NFL ? ..Youve got to be kidding me... :'(

I've never seen it printed anywhere but also can't remember watching any brothers compete against each other at the Cadet or Junior level in Fargo. But I can recall numerous instances of co-champs.

the only article I could find was about the Doi twins, who chose to be
Co-Champions after reaching the finals in 2014.

I watched the video of the match between the Ronnigen brothers, Tomas and Anders, they battled it out at the Schultz tournament in 2011. They would never- co-win. I doubt USAWrestling would allow it at the senior level- what if both Ryan and Spenser reach the finals at Olympic trials ? Share a handshake, and a hug ? yeah, right.... :P

This article states that the Paulson twins were intending to wrestle if they met up at world team trials a few years ago. It also mentions towards the end that they were declared co-champions once in Fargo.

Did the Altons choose to.be co-champions one year? Or maybe they wrestled each other in the finals?

Only in the finals at Junior & below as I understand it. The Rauser twins wrestled one another for third place, but Doi twins, Chow sisters, Purler twins, etc. have all been "co champs" at Cadets & Juniors.

No problem with co champs. Why should they have to wrestle if they are brothers? To please the fans? Kind of cool in my opinion.
