I want a Ness vs Valencia and then a Ness vs Hall final. A Steinbaus vs Nickal quarter is intriguing as well, then hopefully an all MN semi with Steveson. A man can dream.

Huge 4pt bear hug by Zillmer to get the win. He's got plenty of work to do and rust to knock off to compete for the spot, but he's as talented as any at the weight in the US. I don't expect to see him knock off Holm or Anderson, but he has the talent to be the future of the weight.
I agree 100%. Zillmer has a bright Greco future. Article says he hasn't wrestled Greco in years and decided a couple days ago to attend. Wonder when Holm retires if Rau will drop down? Lavalle is getting good too and he is still young for Greco wrestler.

LaValle has always been really good at Greco. He lost to Jimmy Chase in a special 2-match wrestle off, to determine who would make the Junior World team for 2009. He just had to put Greco away for awhile, while he did college folkstyle. I'm glad to see he will move on to the trials.

I'm not so sure Rau couldn't beat Holms now, but chooses to stay up where he is. The man really likes to eat. :P

Wish I could have stuck around to watch those matches.
Yah, Crazy Rau was weighing in the weight class below Holm two years ago...the weight he was cutting, I understand why he loves his food. lol

Hall vs Martinez
Sorry, wrong Martinez. Obviously IMar already qualified for the trials by virtue of his Natty.

Both Dardanes in the semi's at 65...wondering how that might play out, should they both reach the finals...

Hall was up 3-2 when Valencia leaped over and behind Hall for a TD to go up 4-3. Hall got a TD late in the final period to win 5-4.

Hall was down 4-3 with about 35 seconds to go. Valencia took a shot and looked like he might get another take another takedown to ice the match, but Hall out scrambled him for a winning takedown. Valencia's second takedown on Hall was unbelievable. You have to see it to believe it. Great match by both wrestlers.

Steiny working Nickal, priceless!

Gable is a legend!

Vega is a freak. Can we somehow land him?

What happened with Mckee?

Last chance qualifier to win zero matches at the real tournament. Crazy to think about the amount of top level competition in freestyle. Good experience nonetheless.

Just saw on associatedwrestlingpress Hall was down 0-8. Probably his first time being down in a live match in years. Way to BATTLE!

If I read the results correctly, McKee wrestled in both the Qualifier(1-2) and Folk Style Nationals(3rd place, lost a tie breaker). I am pretty impressed with his passion for wrestling and always seeking out the top competition. If he was most concerned about titles he would have just concentrated on the Nationals. Wrestling in 2 different tournaments in the same day must be exhausting.

Mitch McKee running back and forth doing two different tournaments in two different styles is incredible. I know he didn't get more then about 20 minutes max between a few of those matches. Well done!

I think 9 matches today, and maybe 3 yesterday.

I picked up my phone ready to start texting friends with "Mark Hall....gone."

Somehow, he ended up with the takedown off of Martinez's arm spin. Followed by a double overhook throw for 4. It was "All Hall" going forward. I am patiently waiting for flo to post this match. Although the finals was a better match, this match with Martinez was so close to preventing the Valencia final.

actually, it might have been a better idea to focus on just one, for better results..... ^o)

other wrestlers have tried wrestling both the US Senior Open, and the FILA Junior tournament in Vegas in the same day....to my knowledge., not one has ever won either tournament, by trying to do both simultaniously..

EDIT: I might have to correct myself ? Was Steveson entered in the Last Chance ? He won Folkstyle Nationals, so good for him.

Is Steinhaus going all in on the Freestyle circuit? He hasn't wrestled in 2 years and had a good run to the semi's, cant imagine he was in "wrestling shape" yet, would be fun to see him full time.

Congrats to Donny Longendyke... Nice Tournament......
Donny and the Greco storm team showed up very focused and a matter of fact attitude the whole day but laid back relaxed ready to work. Coach Chandler and Coach Paulson had them ready.
Very excited to see the Storm this weekend perform against the Nations best.
